It makes sense, hotels are almost always a better experience than an AirBnB, unless you have a special location like this one or an area without enough hotels.

Airbnb has been squeezing the people renting properties for some time. So the only way to make money on the platform is to overcharge on fees. Naturally people have caught on to this and the fact that an Airbnb isn't cheaper than a hotel anymore if you account for those excess fees.

So they are trying to get the fees under control. It's not uncommon to be charged a cleaning fee that is hundreds of dollars.

There are other fixes, as someone below me mentioned, we could remove the cap on pay used to calculate Soc. Sec. payments (currently $184,500 but will rise to $192,300 in 2027). We can increase the ages at which soc. sec. starts. But we'd have to be careful with that one. Someone banging on a keyboard all day will be in better shape at 65 that someone working construction. We can also increase modestly the tax rate for Soc. Sec. and Medicare

This is not a chicken and egg problem. It's an analysis problem. SpaceX built rockets for reasons started by government incentives and prizes to get new rockets designed. Once their rockets were designed customers also came flooding in. They'd be doing perfectly fine without Starlink. Starlink came almost a decade after SpaceX's first launch and the first Starlink constellation went up 2 years after SpaceX was already handling commercial and government contracts using second hand (reused) boosters.

Starlink on the other hand needed a very cheap launch vehicle to be viable and it wasn't even a conceptual idea before that happened. We very much know which came first.
