That is how I used the word "truck" too.
Anyway, I was sarcastic.
Surprising that so many nitpick about my comment.
The modern truck in USA is a "pickup" they got invented t circumvent emission laws 25 years ago, actually close to 30 years.
States like California introduced very strict emission laws - for personal vehicles - and actually forced car makers to sell about 1% zero emission cars around 2000. And increase that percentage year by year.
So, the car industry "reclassified" personal cars into trucks. SUVs or what ever. Those abominations only exist to circumvent the law, and then suddenly got traction, and sold nicely.
In German we do not use such a word, we use Lastkraftwagen and its abbreviation LKW. It is pretty clear that a SUV or pickup is not a LKW. On the other hand: you could register some small cars (usually vans) as LKWs - not sure if that stopped now, or is still possible. Mostly to cheat insurance prices. Well, it is not cheating if it is legal.
So you work as an Surveying Engineer, you have to carry a little bit equipment and are traveling a considerable amount each year. You get a VW bus, or similar, and register it as a "truck", and pay less than half the price in taxes and insurance ...
The only thing "fair" about is:
a) the idiots made the laws like that, so you simply can do it
b) you actually are using the car for your job ... so you probably think your conscious is clear
