Comment Re: Most Republicans hate Mitch McConnell (Score 1) 67

Mitch O'Connell is part of the establishment GOP faction that responds readily to globalists and special foreign factions over Americans.

It's a business model of grifting for more campaign money, not that Mitch needs it anymore but so that Mitch can donate it toward other like-minded anti-American politicians.

Submission + - Popular Linux Orgs Freedesktop, Alpine Linux Are Scrambling For New Web Hosting (arstechnica.com)

An anonymous reader writes: In what is becoming a sadly regular occurrence, two popular free software projects, X.org/Freedesktop.org and Alpine Linux, need to rally some of their millions of users so that they can continue operating. Both services have largely depended on free server resources provided by Equinix (formerly Packet.net) and its Metal division for the past few years. Equinix announced recently that it was sunsetting its bare-metal sales and services, or renting out physically distinct single computers rather than virtualized and shared hardware. As reported by the Phoronix blog, both free software organizations have until the end of April to find and fund new hosting, with some fairly demanding bandwidth and development needs.

An issue ticket on Freedesktop.org's GitLab repository provides the story and the nitty-gritty needs of that project. Both the X.org foundation (home of the 40-year-old window system) and Freedesktop.org (a shared base of specifications and technology for free software desktops, including Wayland and many more) used Equinix's donated space. [...] Alpine Linux, a small, security-minded distribution used in many containers and embedded devices, also needs a new home quickly. As detailed in its blog, Alpine Linux uses about 800TB of bandwidth each month and also needs continuous integration runners (or separate job agents), as well as a development box. Alpine states it is seeking co-location space and bare-metal servers near the Netherlands, though it will consider virtual machines if bare metal is not feasible.

Submission + - DeepSeek is not concerned with user privacy or data safety yet either (theregister.com)

Mr. Dollar Ton writes: DeepSeek's online service has left its user database wide open, according to security researchers, allowing unlimited access to chat histories and more without even a simple admin userID/password.

Great job, AI overlords, we really trust you're open and following the best practices around the world.

â 2019 $49.99
â 2022 $64.99
â 2023 $72.99
â 2025 $82.99

Or some $1,000/year (precisely $995.28/yr).

Their quality of service hasnâ(TM)t changed since 2017, in fact itâ(TM)s gotten worse. There is no way the cost of content has increased that much. So the only thing left is paying for the out of control waste and high salaries! I donâ(TM)t support that so am waiving goodbye to @YouTubeTV!

I kind expect a quad-output of sports channels set-top at that amount.

The GPS tracking the China-registered Yi Peng 3 cargo ship (owned by China-based Ningbo Yipeng Shipping) clearly showed that two separate pass attempts were made to anchor-drag and tear up the two undersea fiber-optic cables connecting Finland and Germany in the Baltic Sea.

The US narrative has failed and CNN should be discredited for maintaining a consistent false narratives.
