As a small business, we had to figure out many things on our own and we learned the importance of backing up our files and having a solution that provides encryption level safety for all our documents. From financial, to usual daily tasks that relate to our monthly and quarterly projects, Dropbox has been the place where we keep all our information for easier access and easier location. No more lost files in our emails or lost files in our local computers, because it automatically synchronizes everything so that we don’t have to upload things in large batches at the same time, saving us lots of time. Because this is our main cloud storage solution and it serves as the place where we locate all our files, it also increases our productivity because we are all able to collaborate and comment on our projects simultaneously, and get notifications of all edits and comments so that everyone is kept up to date on any important changes.

Positive: Dropbox is a good cloud storage solution that is very easy to use. It is fairly simple to store our important files and share them with the entirety of our team with quickness; the platform is visually stunning and provides a great user experience by displaying the tools with simplicity and uploading files with efficiency and in no time. I like that Dropbox synchronizes with our local files and automatically uploads certain folders where our business files are, so we don’t have to manually do the process every time and it saves us time when working on multiple things. It also speeds up the process of sharing our files with external people, as I only have to open my Dropbox account and send it from there by email or through a shared link, even if they don’t use Dropbox. I also like that this software provides an extensive amount of storage, and in terms of price, it is better and more affordable than other solutions out there.
Additionally, Dropbox values security a lot, and it increases safety even inside the software, allowing me to edit permissions whenever I want to and restrict certain folders so only certain members have access to them. I like this feature a lot as it helps maintain corporate hierarchy in our business, and I also like that Dropbox allows us to delete files from different devices in case the device has been lost or stolen, this helps prevent our information from leaking and we can do it from our own devices. This software also has a set of features that are very nice to work with and helps streamline our workflow, such as the ability to take screenshots directly from Dropbox and share them quickly, or have an open conversation in different files where everyone can comment and give their opinions on a project task or notify if some changes were made to a file and it allows for seamless collaboration inside the app. Lastly, I find that the mobile app is a really good application that has the same set of nice features as in desktop and I can easily upload files and edit them on it, maintaining the same collaboration level and the same fluid efficiency as in the desktop and web application.

Negative: When we started using Dropbox, I have to say that the guides weren’t the most user-friendly or explanatory for a beginner starting to use a cloud storage software. In addition to that, the customer service wasn’t very responsive to our doubts and they still remain the same way, which I dislike a lot because any questions I’ve had haven’t been properly replied and solved. However, when we managed to figure out how to use this solution, we were met with the great benefits to it and the amazing collaborative and storage tools that it offers, and we haven’t had any issues of missing files which was my main concern when starting to use this software. Dropbox has been a solution that I have been able to support myself on as it provides great security tools and back-up features that automatically saves us time.

Summary: Overall, I think Dropbox is a great area to store and use collaboration between work teams. It is one of many similar softwares out there, but I have enjoyed it.
