Journal damn_registrars's Journal: Watch Out For Teflon Tim 20
With the Sanford bit going down in South Carolina, things are looking real good for Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota. Too good, in fact. Here's a short primer on "Teflon" Tim. He makes "Slick Willie" look like an amateur.
---------------------------
As this is fantastically good news for "Teflon" Tim Pawlenty (current governor of Minnesota). Which is terrible news for anyone who knows anything about government. Everything that the GOP loved about Stanford is present in an oh-so-beautiful-on-camera package in Mr. Pawlenty, as well as one trait that they have yearned for so much:
Nothing sticks to Pawlenty.
Who was governor when the interstate 35W bridge collapsed into the Mississippi River? Pawlenty
Who was governor over multiple state government shut-downs due to budgetary troubles? Pawlenty
Who was governor when the University system in Minnesota had to force multiple consecutive years of annual double-digit percentage tuition increases, just to keep the lights on? Pawlenty
Who was governor when the state constitution was crapped all over by a cigarette tax that contributed to the general fund (as a "fee", no less) to try to work out the massive budget shortfall? Pawlenty
Which governor ran for election on the sole campaign promise of "I won't raise your taxes", rather than actually discussing issues? Pawlenty
Which governor ran on just one promise, dodging all other issues, and then used budgetary voodoo and massive cuts to education to keep that promise? Pawlenty
Which governor came closer to a VP endorsement than any other MN governor in many, many, terms? Pawlenty
...
Just wait and see, you'll be seeing a lot more of him in the next couple years. It wouldn't surprise me to see Palin hitched to him as VP.
And if you think Bush Jr. did a fine job of destroying the economy; just look at what has happened to MN. MN didn't have a brain drain problem before; but look what happens when you start cutting education!

In degree of evil, Illinois politicians do beat out MN politicians; though one could debate the order of magnitude difference between the two, especially when considering that MN was previously regarded as one of (if not the) finest liberal states in the country in terms of services and overall quality of life.
On a side note, MN politicians are no longer mine - they actually haven't been for some time - as I moved from MN to an Eastern state just about 4 years ago. But if the trend of ever-increasingly-

I have suggested more than once that journal comment moderation should just simply be banned; or at least there could be an option when posting a journal entry to forbid moderation. It seems meaningless to moderate journal entries anyways; there are seldom enough comments to justify such action.

In 1969, Marge Lindheimer Everett, manager of Arlington Park and Washington Park race tracks, admitted bribing then-Governor Kerner and his Finance Director, Ted Isaacs, to gain choice racing dates and to get two expressway exits for her Arlington Park racetrack. The bribes were in the form of stock. Amazingly, the scandal came to light because Everett had deducted the value of the stock on her federal income tax returns under her
