Anyone who ever went to a business meeting could've told you that.

By my experience, it takes only 4 things to make a meeting productive: a) someone is in charge of the meeting and moderation, b) that someone had time to prepare, c) everyone in the meeting has received an agenda with enough lead time to have read it and (if necessary) prepare their part, at least a bit and finally d) there is at least a simple protocol of the meeting for those who couldn't attend, those who dozed off in the middle, and those who claim next week that something else was agreed on.

Fortran has some optimizations involving pointers that are invalid in other languages like C. So it can be the absolute fastest outside of hand optimized assembly (which is very difficult to do better than a compiler these days). It also has advanced math libraries which are highly tested and optimized. So its niche is highly performant math and scientific programming.

Even if "locked in place" is your underlying assumption, anyone who's even heard of the real world from their mom who has a friend whose father once visited it should know that there is no rule without exceptions and even if that is perfectly true, a small number of those particles will not be locked in perfectly.

Huawei is doing original things. Z-fold phones with an OS that does everything a desktop can do and has AI integration that (Chinese sources say) is actually useful. Unfortunately we can't get them in the USA because the federal government has to protect Apple's inability to innovate. Of course Samsung is nipping at Huawei's heels, but if you use a Samsung phone you'll start seeing targeted ads on your smart refrigerator.

Apple signs contracts to buy huge quantities of hardware over years. This probably won't affect them any time soon. All the Android phones are going to be more expensive than iPhones in a year and Apple's stock price is going to exceed $5 trillion.

Gotta be honest, every time someone collapses and is in distress, there are always a bunch of people who pull out their phones and start recording. As a first responder, it's just so gross that someone would think to start recording instead of pitching in or calling 911. Seriously, you may need to bare their chest to apply an AED or do compressions. It's quite embarrassing for the casualty for a lot of reasons. Give people some privacy. They're fellow human beings. We need to stop pretending like it's perfectly OK to film strangers in public. Legal? Sure. Should you be doing it? 9 times out of 10, no.

Where do the AI companies plan to get their data after they put all the news outlets and publishers of nonfiction out of business? Will there just be nothing written after 2030 in their results? Or will the AIs just hallucinate everything?

They probably have multiple accounts with paid subscriptions connecting from IPs around the world scraping data 24/7. Setting that up would be trivial with the budgets AI companies have.

I think that's very fair, but I don't think you can rule out the effect of social conformity.

If you believe one side or the other is factually correct and the other is factually incorrect, then you drank someone's kool-aid and you should spit it out. Both "sides" use demonstrably false logic and reasoning in their arguments, but that doesn't mean those arguments aren't effective in convincing people to follow them. The fact is that the vast majority of people live their life on vibes and feeling, and not based on logic and reason. That's kind of the point of this article, after all. Logic and reason isn't as effective as appealing to someone's emotions.

Remember that a person who moves from a liberal city to a conservative town will invariably become more conservative in their opinions, and the opposite is also true. Most of what people say outwardly is not an expression of their actual beliefs, but what they believe will get them the most positive rewards from the people around them.
