The Air Force has been using remotely piloted aircraft for at least the past 40 years, maybe longer (I don't get out much). The public may not know why the military thinks they still need humans at the controls in the air, but apparently the military still believes there is some need for it.

I've been on the winning side of three now. My spoils:

1 letter informing me of the decision. TL:DR: Yay! You win, but lawyers are expensive. So, revel in your glory, winner! High-five!
2 checks totaling under $0.50 USD. It wasn't worth my time to drive to the bank to cash either one.

I've had lawyers chasing me down over the past year trying to get me to join a fourth against my homeowners insurance company. After reading all of their legalese in the suspiciously large packet they sent me, I declined. They could probably get a judgment (their billboards are all over the east and west coasts of the U.S. -- somebody's gotta pay for that advertising), but the likelihood I would ever see a penny was worse than none. I didn't feel like helping someone else line their pockets at my expense again.

My experience is that there will always be something in the Desktop du jour that just doesn't work as well as in a competitor's product. I really like i3, but I'd never recommend that unless I knew exactly the skill and comfort level of the user. Maybe, if you have space available, set up a VM and plug in a distro that offers several DEs and give each one a run. Many of them are actually pretty good.

The last thing authorities want is a months long stream of news pointing out their utter failure to pursue a real crime

Therein lies the real problem. I'm by no means an expert, but I do enjoy many of these "hacking the scammer videos" on YouTube. I usually just play them in the background the way some folks would play a sports match. I get the impression that the authorities aren't sufficiently inclined to pursue such matters until they are suitably embarrassed and appropriately shamed for their failures. It's unfortunate. This is big business. Just this year I've had the opportunity to be arrested by the IRS Police more times than I can count. It's gotten to where I don't even answer my phone any more. If it's important, I'll call back.

What killed Blue Apron for me was: 1) I rarely received a complete box, or 2) at least one thing was rotten. No matter what, I always had to go to the store to replace that missing or rotten item. I complained. They never cared. I stopped sending them money. They never tried to get me back. I love to cook and don't mind shopping, so it has been no big loss.
