I used to think the end of America was going to be the worst thing that could happen. Now I'm just hoping my country (Canada) can get out of the way of what has to be the biggest own-goals in history. I mean, how is Trump even allowed out of a dementia ward, let alone in charge of the most powerful nation on Earth? Why did so many Americans think he was somehow better than someone who can actually string coherent sentences together?

That's much like the modern commercial ones. There's basically two sorts depending if they are for cafe or kitchen use. The latter usually have two dials: power and time. They're powerful enough that you really do want power control for defrosting etc. the only other control is time.

The former generally have a large number of program memories that let you cook in stages, the idea being that each served item is numbered and once calibrated, your staff shove the item in, hit the corresponding number and it comes out the same every time.

They don't have turntables and mine has a removable panel at the top so you can clean off splatters easily.

I have a Panasonic microwave (commercial one). It's pricy for the 2020s, but less in real terms than a domestic microwave cost in the 90s. It's incredibly easy to clean, large and blasts out 1,800 watts and can do so for hours at a time. It's very good.

So why then did the Democrats put forward a third losing proposition

Hindsight is 20/20. Maybe the Dems thought that people just had something against Hillary.

Was letting trump get easily elected a reasonable move, given the damage he's doing?

They didn't "let" him. The fault is with the people who couldn't bear to have a woman in charge no matter how corrupt the competition.

Moreover, I don't think that Harris was really a Democratic proposition at all. She was in the extremely unfortunate position to be the stopgap that the Democrats put in place to dress the bad performance of Biden and thus burnt without much of a purpose, as her candidacy wasn't evaluated on her merits, but on the background of Biden's performance.

If it had been evaluated on Biden's performance she'd have won with a landslide. America had the strongest post COVID recovery of any major economy.

Has everybody already forgotten how Musk directly threatened to cut off Ukraine's access to Starlink, thus partially blinding their armed forces trying to repel Russian invaders? Why would any government rely on a satellite/data network controlled by a petulant child-man who might turn it off at any time in a fit of pique?

Nah.

America is not ready for a female president. It does not matter how well qualified, especially compared to the competition, people will not vote for her and will rationalise away arguments that evaporate as soon as the voting is done. No one really cared about Hillary's emails eose they'd be pushing for the same excessive punishments for Hegseth, Walz and etc. No one really cared about the price of groceries and eggs otherwise they'd be complaining even louder now.

The fault lies with the people who voted for Trump or stayed at home. They saw one term, they knew who he was.

I think you are answers with genitals and this will affect your fitting decisions.

In other words you are living proof of why DEI is necessary: so muppets like you don't let your genitalia obsession drive hiring decisions. Could you do me a favour and not? If everyone like you stopped obsessing over genitals and focused on skills, there'd be no need for all this stuff you hate so much. Funny really, you're part of the reason it exists.
