Sometimes I think about the dumb people I met in university that were academically successful through rote effort and in part due to that didn't realize how unintelligent they were, and thus also seemed to vastly underestimate everyone else's comprehension of the worldâ"for example many an anthropology student or even prof for whom the idea that cultural values aren't universal seemed like such a mindblowing idea they couldn't imagine people having come to such (frankly obvious) conclusions on their own. When I hear stuff like "that researchers have historically assumed they didn't comprehend" I just have to sigh, clearly an entire field run by egotistical dolts, the kind of people who kept ignoring Neanderthal tools in archaeological digs because they *must* be Human ones because only Humans could make fancy tools like thatâ" The dolphins say so long and thanks for all the fish.

While the synopsis makes it seem like those would be equivalent jobs, I would actually think they're pretty fundamentally different. Taxis and ambulances are often going on streets repeatedly, but they aren't specific repeated routes per se, it's varying every time. So there's a lot more information, and interrelations between those bits of information, than for pilots or especially bus drivers.

And the writer of this piece, Franklin Foer, was for years one of the folks out there so sure the investigation would be explosive, with "extraordinary implications". One might think it'd be bad for singleminded Russiagaters that the investigation largely seemed to show that Russia's role as wildly overblown and the Trump campaign's ties similarly so (not that there's nothing, but it's just the same humm of low-level corruption Trump and associates universally have), but I guess all those pundits are just pivoting from claiming Russia "hacked" the 2016 election to claiming that they're gonna hack 2020.

In fairness . . . it's kindof insane to still be using the stock firmware of a WRT54G, even back then. And that's definitely a failure condition pretty unique to the kind of half-assed implementation of things that the stock Linksys firmware had.

That being said, I do feel your pain, and it seems strange for Firefox not to offer any "no seriously, I know what I'm doing, I take full responsibility if this goes horribly for me" override option.

With that logic the government can hire a third party to run debates and trample on free speech.

The public access channel is government mandated and is therefor a private entity acting on behalf of the government.

SCOTUS knows jack shit about protecting liberty. The ruling is a total farce.

And you expected anything different from a "conservative"-majority Supreme Court?
