Comment Re:Well Trump supporters (Score 0) 277

The take away from the article is that it is an expensive (to run) service with a small number of people using it. It only works for about half of the US states with simple tax situations.

The right way to do this is to greatly simplify the tax code so that most returns can be done on a simple 1 page form with little to no math so no software or SaaS is necessary to file.

Comment Bad developers will still create bad code (via AI) (Score 1) 130

because they'll be bad at AI prompts and checking the AI generated code.

Good developers will create code better than AI because they understand the user requirements better than can be expressed in AI prompts. Plus they can see much further into the future and will write maintainable code that AI can't.

Comment Digitally Literate CEOs know AI is mostly hype (Score 3, Interesting) 73

Using AI in data science and such has it's place. But to use it for average business oriented activity like writing reports is not going to save time and labor. It just shifts the creative process to having to review everything AI generated to make sure it's accurate, i.e. it shifts the work load, not eliminate it.

If you want something automated, it's better to have some code it up so it's deterministic and can be maintained by people who know the business domain.

Comment Just a scam (Score 2) 208

If they aren't planning on taking these taxes on 'excessive' profits and using all the money (no skimming!) to build nuclear plants then it's just a scam to transfer wealth from oil corporations to government corporations. And ultimately all that money is coming from you, the individual consumer.
