Hmmmmmm writes: Scientists in China have developed the hardest and strongest glassy material known so far that can scratch diamond crystals with ease.
The researchers, including those from Yanshan University in China, noted that the new material – tentatively named AM-III – has “outstanding” mechanical and electronic properties, and could find applications in solar cells due to its “ultra-high” strength and wear resistance.
Analysis of the material, published in the journal National Science Review, revealed that its hardness reached 113 gigapascals (GPa) while natural diamond stone usually scores 50 to 70 on the same test.
According to the scientists, AM-III has tunable energy absorption properties comparable to semiconductors commonly used in solar cells such as hydrogenated amorphous silicon films.
While in diamond crystals, the organised internal structure of its atoms and molecules contribute to their immense strength and hardness, in AM-III the researchers found that a combination of order and disorder of its molecules give rise to its strange properties.
Using fullerenes, which are materials made of hollow football-like arrangements of carbon atoms, the researchers produced different types of glassy materials with varying molecular organisation among which AM-III had the highest order of atoms and molecules.
Increasing the order further, the scientists observed, could potentially kill the semiconductivity and other properties that required the atoms and molecules to be chaotic.

Biggest issue I have his how the start menu and task bar operate with multiple displays, but that will continue to evolve I'm sure. While my 5900X supports fTPM, clearly, I use a dTPM chip instead.

In this case, though, it's just normal people who don't understand markets at all but are trying to make some money. Yet they don't know to look and see why prices are being driven up.., with actors who heavily invested millions when DOGE in '19 driving up the price with large buys and multiple small sells (that is just one wallet).

DOGE is a joke - when over 70% of it is held by 100 wallets, with majority of the largest holders all buying millions $ worth of DOGE all in the same time frame (Jan - July 2019). You can literally look up the block transactions and see which wallets are manufacturing volume to drive up the price in this pump and dump.

That is patently false. The town had spent $190 million as of the beginning of '19 that went to legal costs, buying up the land, building out sewer and water infrastructure to that land... and of that debt, the state is on the hook for 40% if asked.

Downstream components may come from China, and final assembly of certain components may happen in China - but actual fab happens in Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Japan, US etc. China has struggled for several decades to break into the semiconductor industry and has failed to do so - it's not exactly something that can be copied and fabricated, while simultaneously having the ability to design and fab the next generation. China will catch up, but it won't be anytime soon.

I was the same - tried switching back to FF a few months ago, but performance still wasn't there. Tried Edge last month, though, and was shocked at the performance compared to Chrome. It's now my main browser.

This. I still haven't made my Edge my system default, but I've been using Edge for the past month and performance has been so much better than Chrome. SO much better.
