  • Yeah, a bunch of us here on Slashdot moved much of the conversation to Twitter. Unfortunately, Trump seems to get a bunch of the bandwidth there too.

        • Appalled by the democrats? Why? They are still ineffective, they just don't have any power now. You should be appalled by your own party for failing to effectively bully and steamroll the democrats into complete submission as they did under GWB. The GOP has pretty well accomplished 99% of their wishes in the legislature and courts since 2017. You can't really blame the last 1% on the democrats.

              Indeed the democrats can't win as long as the money game - which is undeniably rigged - is rigged against them due to a rigged economy. It doesn't matter that the fiscal policies of the democrats would help vastly more people than the fiscal policies of the GOP, because the GOP policies help more dollars than the policies of the democrats. The democrats don't help their own cause here by continually voting in favor of more GOP-proposed and GOP-sponsor

              • It's an issue that only voter introspection can handle. Don't look for help from the outside. It's not there. The choice is personal.

                • How do you reach enough voters to win a campaign, without money? In this country the answer is simple - you don't. If you can't raise money, you can't win. In my area in 2018 six-figure sums were spent on state house seats (not even US congress). The third parties aren't just handicapped, they are decapitated.

                      The voters indeed should all take their own initiative and evaluate all the running candidates for each office that they plan to vote for on their own. However we know that our democracy hasn't worked that way in a very very long time. We have seen what happens when we let elected officials choose their voters - rather than the other way around - and that is even worse yet.
