Comment missing something (Score 1) 52

It seems to me that the hardest part of automated driving is translating what a computer is seeing ( I guess from a camera) into solid information on what is actually there. Figuring out how to drive after that should be fairly simple in comparison. This article give us no insight into how that works. I'm gonna call bullshit on this one.

I could be wrong, but I suspect when OpenAI and Anthropic warn us of all the bad things that their creations are up to, it's more a ploy to show us how supposedly powerful they are rather than really inform us of something wrong. If they're using their computers to break into other people's computers, they're criminals, not the overlords of some new, amazing technology.

Comment Call center as a career? (Score 3, Interesting) 148

I've never met anybody or seen such a person on TV or anywhere else, who wanted to grow up and work in a call center. This is exactly where AI should make a positive impact. But we all know it won't happen. There's no indication that AI call centers bots are getting anywhere near intelligent or even particularly useful. We're still whacking away at the zero and screaming "I want to talk to a human".
