You have to crack open the case and set a jumper to unlock the device to not deal with Developer Mode's bothersome prompts.

Developer Mode is a pain in the ass--just set the jumper and install a conventional OS on it.

I have a box full of these to bring to the e-waste dump.

They were underpowered and underfeatured. Even when I hacked the jumper to install regular operating systems on them, they were terrible. Netbooks were SO much better.

I don't really understand what Google was thinking when the market already had perfectly good Netbooks that weren't tied to the Google ecosystem.

TiVo discontinued Thumbs Up/Down and Suggestions in early 2023.

When they discontinued the "Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down" suggestion feature years ago, TiVo just became another, more expensive, DVR to me.

When TiVo unilaterally stopped supporting satellite TV is when I gave up on them. Then FiOS was deployed in my neighborhood and I kept my TiVo for several more years.

Now that CableCards are being cancelled there's no true reason to own a TiVo.

I also owned TiVos since the first models came out in 1999, including the Sony models.

They only survived this long because they won case after case against DiSH Network accusing them of stealing their software and infringing on their patents, generating billions of dollars.

Alas, DiSH Network declared bankruptcy earlier this year.

My cable TV service, FiOS, said they had shut down CableCards last year.

Existing CableCards seem to still work, though.
