They built one out here and it was finished but not stocked for several months. When it was operational, we visited the store. The prices were expensive and the selection was limited.
I don't know whose "brain fart" these stores were but the basic execution of the store was flawed. It allowed no perceptible value.
Tuition at a California State University is running about $5K/semester.
These universities are severely overpriced.
A.I. is a tool, just like a knife. It can be used for good things and bad things.
Our beloved "governments" are using it to track citizens, facial recognition, license plate movement tracking, "who and what to bomb" among other travesties.

Stanford is no different than any other C.S. majors. The market is over saturated with C.S. graduates and has been for many years. Take a look at the YouTube "Coding for Everyone" video and it explains the situation.
A.I. should be able to design the circuitry in much less than an hour.
I saved 4% on having my car repainted by writing a check for the bill vs. using a card. Fees are added to credit and debit card payments which businesses sometimes pass on to the customer.
The only time I change to a newer phone is if the OS is so old that the updated apps won't work on it.
Though there are apps that are *supposed* to make transferring files and loading apps "easier" they usually don't move everything over to the new phone. Specifically, the device settings/notifications and notification sounds. It still requires a couple of hours dicking around with the new phone to have it emulate the functionality that I once had on the older phone.
As for Apple crap, some of the users are a cult that will spend over a grand on a fuggin' phone just to have "the latest" one.
They're starting to plant a bunch of those spy cameras all over town out here in the Sierra Foothills. Both a little podunk town next to me as well as some of the unincorporated parts of the county where I live. I welcome legislation getting rid of it.
More gooder.
Sticking a kid in front of a screen is just lazy parenting. Instead, give the child some toys to play with to stimulate imagination. Read books with them to get them started so they can create images in their minds. Go outdoors with them and see what's going on out there. Dig a hole, make a homemade nature video. Go fishing or swimming in a lake. Ride a bicycle (not a stupid e bike).
What's interesting is the U.S. doesn't make the majority of I.C.s for the U.S. products. China is now requiring "permits" for their companies that manufacture and ship out products to the U.S. that contain rare Earth elements.
It's going to get interesting in that our automotive industry is dependent upon the elements as well as just about everything electronic that we purchase. I predict some backtracking on the decision once reality sets in.
