The folks in the Middle East are just like us? Iranians yearn for democracy?

BULLSHIT

Look at this!

Fuck that.

EDIT: It's a fake. Sort of. His arm is only bruised. They put a block outside his arm. This is "show" or "scare tactic".

Just Like Us?

  • Assuming you mean the "us" that wants to wipe Israel off the face of the earth, yeah, then they are like "us." Granted I am not like "us."
  • ... today I realized that all Americans want to string up, torture and murder all gay people [wikipedia.org].

Did you know that a favorite tactic of skinhead and neo-nazi white supremacy groups is to take individual horrific incidents and then use them as "evidence" against entire races, religions, and cultures? For example, to them, if a black man shoots a white man dead on the street, it's highlighted as further evidence that all blacks are animalistic monsters out to kill every white person on earth and used to push the
    • Wrong answer TMP

What you described was a crime.

What you saw on that website was punishment for a crime. It's a fucking law. Big difference. Feel free to try again though.
      • The folks in the Middle East are just like us?

See, here's the thing Lou old buddy. I see you whining about those middle eastern PEOPLE, but I don't see you whining about their LAWS. I see you trying to denigrate them as something less than us, but I don't see you trying to get people to understand the problems and call for education on the issue.

You see, Lou. Right there in that sentence you directly implied that they're different from us, and from the context and tone of the rest of your horseshit, it's pr
        • I can live with that.
        • tmp... do you think you'll ever learn?

do you think you'll ever find out that calling people names (even if you disagree with them) makes you look completely ridiculous? aren't you embarrassed?

don't you ever get tired of being scolded for acting like a child?

is this all you have to offer?

i sure hope its not, because you seem pretty smart... but everytime you try to "argue" you end up calling names, getting personal and take on the personality of a child.
          • Sorry, I forgot that it isn't PC to point people out for what they are unless the attitude they convey is something positive. I'll go back to pretending that ellem doesn't post things like this or call for everyone of "them" to be killed and their desert "glassed".

Yea, real freaking sorry I offended you there buddy.

Ellem is a racist. That is an observation. Ellem is a booger-face. That is name-calling. Just thought I'd highlight the difference for you.
            • you didn't offend me. you are doing it again. making assumptions, thinking you know something when you don't. i've mentioned this before. i guess you haven't learned that lesson yet.

don't assume you know how i or anyone may feel.

so... using your logic here... i could point out that you are a hate monger ... and not be called out on it, now could i? its *your* _opinion_ that ellem is a racist. and using your _opinion_ as a basis for your argument is, well... lets be nice and say that's highly flawed.

              i'm sorr
        • I see you whining about those middle eastern PEOPLE, but I don't see you whining about their LAWS.

A people is best defined by the laws that they enforce.

That applies to the Islamic nations, and it applies to the United States.

These people have accepted Islamic Law. This is all they know. That's why they generally think what they do about America, because compared to what they accept as "normal", Americans border on anarchy.

It's not about racism. It's a culture clash, pure and simple, our culture against
    • Here we have the President of Iran calling for an entire country to be wiped off the map.

      http://powerlineblog.com/archives/012065.php [powerlineblog.com]

Standing with a huge banner saying "The world without Zionism" behind him just in case you think he was misquoted.
      • That's a fact that doesn't agree with TMP's preconceived notions, so he'll either ignore it or claim the source doesn't count because the source is biased.

He hasn't learned that the truth is the truth, no matter who speaks it.

Although the Alito nomination has him acting like he's off his medication again.

        • Oh, I'm sorry... I hadn't realized that at some point I had ever showed any support for the Iranian government. Could you kindly point to where I did that I might be reminded?

And, of course, there's the beautiful irony in him pointing to the Iranian president trying to create a schism between two groups of people arbitrarily when I'm complaining about ellem pointing to one horrific act as "evidence" that an entire people is somehow less than us. Hmm... Iranian president tries to divide two peoples along cul

This is all because they're scumsucking muslims isn't it?

Never mind all the quite civilized muslims I know who would be just as outraged as us. That's what gets me about the commentary. "It's because of their religion". No, it's because of their entire culture, and there are certainly Iranians who decry this shit and want to have democracy without all that barbaric crap.

Once upon a time, there were people in the US who went to "picnics" where the entertainment was stringing up black men for their "crimes

    • again it wasn't a fucking LAW

why is this so hard to get?

they have LAWS that say this is the punishment for stealing. I don't a fuck about their religion except in where they make their laws from it and their laws are fucked.
      • again it wasn't a fucking LAW

If you lived in the south it was considered the law. Or don't you get that part of our history?

Ultimately my real objection is not that people are pointing out the brutality; it's horrible, period. It's that they're using it as a jumping off point to say "see, they're all fucking insane we should kill 'em all" and similar things.

Guess what? Dictators make "laws" all the time that are horrible and have outrageously overblown consequences. You act as though Iranians are free

  • If you head back to the website and read all of the latest postings about these pictures it is obvious that there is no source. There are several posters who seem to think that this is a stunt proving how strong the boy is, possibly for money. If this is true, then it has nothing to do with democracy. And second, it is a lot like us, parents pushing children to do things that can cause them physical pain for fame and or money.

Whatever these are picture of, I think the post by Mycroft says it very well, "I

  • I didn't look at the whole thing once I realized what was going to happen because I was at work and didn't want to offend a passer-by. I just now looked at it.

    You stupid cunts are pathetic.

The kid doesn't struggle in the least and if they were punishing him, why did they go to the trouble of putting multiple layers of thick blanket under his arm?

This is clearly a publicity stunt a la Ripley's and there are comments in the thread now that back me up on this.

You people are a bunch of goddamn fucking morons.
    • you stupid fucking cunt.

      you are a fucking idiot.

You put the towel under the arm to ensure a break.

You are beyond normal stupid. You go into a whole new realm of fucking stupid. DO SOME FUCKING RESEARCH BEFORE YOU POST IN MY THREADS YOU DUMB BITCH
      • You put the towel under the arm to ensure a break.
It would be interesting to see your clinical research that backs this up, seeing as how the towel in the images is evenly layered and wouldn't create any stress points as opposed to, say, a tightly rolled towel used to create a fulcrum.

Don't worry, I won't waste my time posting in your JEs anymore. I at least like to have a challenge when I'm bashing heads with screwball neocons. You're certainly not providing any with this moronic shit.
  • by Tet ( 2721 )
...fun, games and bigotry all in one handy sized JE.

FWIW, no they're not like us. They're different. Indeed, "us" itself is misleading. I'm not like you. But that doesn't mean better or worse, just different. I wouldn't want to live in Iran. I dislike the prevailing moral climate. But then I wouldn't want to live in the USA for the same reasons.
