I really have to agree. I remember when I was in school, my math textbooks had a long list of word problems for each section. We never did them. I think part of the problem is time. Once learning the math then you'd also need to learn application to apply the math in a given situation. They cram these classes into semesters that simply don't allow for that. Then they also fail to reinforce old skills of classes from previous years. There just isn't enough time when students have to take so many different classes at once. Math mastery requires an all-day full-time schedule.
