Submission + - Sanders plans AI tax legislation to save jobs (washingtonexaminer.com)

sinij writes:

Sen. Bernie Sanders is planning to introduce artificial intelligence legislation that would impose a "robot tax" on large corporations that replace workers with AI or automation.

It makes sense, as corporations pay taxes (SS contributions, etc.) for having workers, so agentic AI should be also taxed in some form. Otherwise it will create additional incentives to replace workers.

Honestly thats exactly why its genius Amazons inline video ads arent some random annoyance theyre a masterclass in subtle marketing Youre already in a buying mindset...

Maybe that what they intended to happen, but instead I put the tablet aside and went into actual store to buy a product. Amazon doesn't get to mess with me while I am spending my money. No way, no how will I tolerate that.

I'm genuinely curious what it is that makes people feel they don't have another option.

Busy parent here. When given a choice to spend 3+ hours driving around different stores or shop at Wallmart or order approximately what you want at Amazon and have it delivered to your doorstep, the lesser evil was clear. Not so much anymore, but Amazon still does save you time.

Toyota and Honda will be effectively dead in three years.

You are delusional. All these 100% EV sales goals are getting repealed or indefinitely postponed. Like in Canada, etc., etc.

In 2025, EV sales require heavy incentives to happen. No incentives, hardly any sales.
