If the "respectable" people can't stomach deporting (or hopefully never admitting), say, illegal alien gangsters - for just one example - then the public will turn to un-respectable people to get it done.

To bare metal, because I have one work laptop, not two. Also don't particularly want to have to physically manage two.
To a VM, dunno that it is or not. But it's relatively easy to work with and one less thing I have to think about.
