The 8-Bit Guy on Youtube has many videos about how to effectively remove the discoloration from old computer plastics. Without paint.

I've watched him. Removing the discoloration is temporary. It will return.

Paint's not permanent either, but it will last a whole lot longer than just removing discoloration, especially if you use PU.

I'd think there's a much higher probability of a Win 11 user getting hooked in a phishing scam than a Win 10 user getting hit by some exploit.

That might be true, but it's not an either-or. Both things can be happening at once. Anyone who has watched firewall logs, or even more hilariously put a machine on the open internet (so it's actually responding to requests) and watched incoming connections knows that there are numerous threat actors continually scanning for unprotected systems. You put an older or even just unpatched system on the net and let it sit for a while and you'll see just what the odds actually are.

But I'm behind a firewall so it doesn't matter, you might say. But just one stupid device on your network gets infected and then everything gets infected.

The military generates a lot of pollution. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing, but in terms of population, the violence of wars tends to lead to baby booms, with a net increase in population. It's rare for a war to decrease the population.

Objectively a war is better for the planet than a mission to Mars.

No lol. "Better" is always subjective.

Sure, I remember when it happened too. We had Apples in schools and I used to walk past a mac store a lot, and I'd occasionally go in. They hooked me up with a copy of Disinfectant once when we later got a IIci in the house. (My mother was a graphic artist.) Later I installed a cache card in and netbsd on that machine.

On the other hand, there were interesting-color PCs before Apple even did that. One of my friends had a MAD SFF 286 that was in a nearly-charcoal color... They lived on a smallish boat and space was at a premium. The monitor was a little Sony Trinitron that did CVBS and CGA.

The entire shield agreement and current system of jurisdiction around digital services needs to be tossed. It really is unworkable.

Addressing it at the design phase beyond, we need to be able to silo operations within national boarder and geofence users into their correct region is impossible because the rules of the road get changed often and often enough in pretty profound ways.

The international agreements need to be simplified to 'where the server is is the jurisdiction that applies'.

He talked of the early days of America and the men who had made those days. He showed how, out of the wrong and the right, the suffering and the starvations, something new had come. And everybody had played a part in it, even the traitors.

This could actually prove to be an interesting event. We have been here before of course but generally speaking legal holds and discovery are more narrow in scope than this or they have been.

If courts start to get in the habit of throwing words like 'all' around often in these types of orders and the appellate court holdings turn out to be that such behavior is acceptable, I expect we are going to see legislative action to stay the power of these courts pretty quickly.

Its not just the trillion dollar GenAI industry here that is put at risk, but any PAAS/SAAS provider business model.
