And that's nothing compared to his dad. That dude is guilty of a number of genocides, and his temper tantrums and logic put Lord Emperor Trump to shame. Like, punishing his pet nation for its leader conducting a census that the god himself ordered in the first place.

Is your only connection a metered phone? Usage on the level of several TB per month on the lowest tier wired connection doesn't make an ISP angry, at least in the civilized world.

Actually, Trump is not a singular cause. He was not the first. Back under reagan, he killed a great deal of our civilian oriented R&D saying that private business can do it , while moving some to DARPA. Thankfully, DARPA still funded basic science.
Then W did more cuts, but pushed a lot of DARPA spending in UNI over to companies and forced cuts in basic science.
Biden also did major changes and pushed funding to go from merit based to DEI.
Trump is just a continuation of this and not even the worst ( reagan or W were the worst ).

It's no capitalism -- it's corporatism and mercantilism. A tariff makes the market non-free.

It's hard to catch an arsonist: there's few cameras in the forest. And it's not the gambling site member but some stinky bum who's doing it for a single bottle of vodka or a hit of fentanyl.

We had such a law in Poland:
Dz.U. 1921 nr.30 poz.177 (also Dz.U. 1920 nr.11 poz.61): Art.2: An official, guilty of accepting a gift or another material benefit, or a promise thereof, [in matters relevant to duties], shall be punished by death by shooting.

It applied to both politicians and regular members of administration. Guess why this law got dropped...

The domain name is sent anyway (except http 1.0 which is dead), and www.foo.bar being different from foo.bar is weird and self-inflicted. Also, see no-www.org.

No, he does have principles: he'll do anything for love. Love for money, of course.

It's the other brand of socialism, whose usual abbreviation starts with "Na". But they're close to each other, despite what worshippers of either side say.

Sounds more like an EDID problem. I don't know how to debug that on Windows, but you can check that on Linux, search for the EDID blob on the 'Net, and install it on Windows.

Eg. for one of my monitors I have this bit in .xsessionrc:
xrandr --newmode "1600x1200"x60.0 162.00 1600 1664 1856 2160 1200 1201 1204 1250 +hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI-A-1-5 1600x1200x60.0
xrandr --output HDMI-A-1-5 --mode 1600x1200x60.0
xrandr --output HDMI-A-1-5 --rotate left
xrandr --output HDMI-A-1-5 --left-of DP-1
I just realized this would be better put into /etc/x11/xorg.conf like we used to in the previous millennium -- that'd let saved layout apply automatically -- but hey, it works.

On the other hand, Windows requires raw EDID rather than parsed modelines.

It already is. If you connect to port 443 speaking SSL-wrapped http, what else do you expect?

Actually, their name is a dick joke.

Our only saviour could be the Tolkien Foundation who's been very active suing everyone who dares to refer to any of JRR's works. And copyright has been given such a strength that the FCC has no chances, they may at most pay the extortionists.

Still, they're the Monsanto of software: if something would be worth doing and lucrative, but is not evil, they're not doing.

This scorpion doesn't seem able to change its stripes.

The Global Warming Gang is not in the business of predicting anything, they try hard to make it happen.

But if you mean scientists, just wait till you hear about AMOC collapse. No serious models anymore say it won't happen. And then, you'll have the heat that you wish for.
