"Right now regulation would just end up being based on ideas from sci-fi films."
The world's richest man and the president of the United States are now openly fighting.
Trump threatened to cancel Space X government contracts and Musk accused Trump to be a frequent flyer to the Pedophile Island. This would be highly entertaining if not for the potential to wreck companies, ruin the economy, and sabotage legislative agenda.
"At this point, *all* developers are using AI in some form"
That's complete bullshit. Most programming is not app or cloud programming, most programming is embedded, fixed function, limited resource programming. AI coding is for masturbators that don't realize there is real programming out there.
Code reviews are a fraud and they always have been. They provide a bullet item on a checklist.
AI coding renders programmers' jobs to pretend they are adding value by doing things of no value at all. But who would know? No programmers left to tell the difference.
"When I'm coding for a day with AI coding assistance, I'm frankly exhausted by the end of the day."
"Just like when I masturbate all day!"
"He said it's "fantastic" that developers can now write software faster with these tools, sometimes while "barely looking at the code.""
Sounds exhausting. Wonder how exhausting it is to be cashing VC checks?
Sam Altman using full-on Trump tactics. What's next, the rest are trans activists?
Real winners fight harder. The losers just complain about the rules and refs.
The YOB is trying to remake America in his own image. A nation of whiners, not winners.
Me? I used to think we had better computer security experts than they did. Or maybe we did and chased all of them back to China? That could explain a lot of what's going on now...
Took me a minute to realize you meant "feed" where you wrote "feel".
On the main topic, I forgot to mention one other group, but it's a tiny one. It's the rich puppeteers who can afford to pull the YOB's strings. Numerically minuscule but getting YUGE returns on their investments.
I suppose it's intended as a funny FP thread but I don't feel like laughing. What if the robot is delivering a bomb? Or has "self-defense" capabilities even in the absence of any "self".
In solution terms I want some kind of robot repellent or electronic fence to make sure no one can send me any package from Amazon. I decided decades ago that if Amazon is selling it, then I don't want it. Especially not if it's an exclusive offer and part of the evil monopoly under development.
Sometimes freedom isn't free. Or even available at a lower price on the Internet.
Working for a loser as an IT guy. Sorry, LEAD IT guy. SuperKendall could give you pointers on how to use emacs.
"So it really isn't about costs of storage..."
Who said it was about the cost of storage? And prompts and user logs are not the same thing. But making unsubstantiated claims does make you sound smart....
By issuing lawful orders? What authorizes a business to enter such contracts when a court order could prevent them from honoring those contracts?
If people boycotted the expensive software options for one year and slammed the IRS with paper forms, this would be reversed post haste.
If we did that, do you know how much it would inconvenience every House member and Senator?
None at all. Their lives will be as damaged as a bulldozer that just ran over Arthur Dent.
Reforming the tax code will cause some people to pay less tax and some other people to pay more.
Whatever your approach, the people who would end up paying more, think your "reform" idea is stupid and evil. I don't remember all their detailed criticisms, but their overall tone was clearly unfavorable.
They hate it. They hate you. Why didn't you make someone else pay more instead?
Why complain about making it easier for them to give it back to you?
Because when Intuit contributes to my political campaign, they tell me they wish it was harder.
Surprise due today. Also the rent.
