The entire Hunter Biden laptop story was laughable from its onset. If you paid attention to the entire story about how it was abandoned by the supposed owner, left to sit for such a long time and then for someone to just access it with all of this incriminating data.

No law enforcement agency would even consider looking at it, the chain of evidence was so badly corrupted it was useless. There was enough time for even an unsophisticated group could create a seemingly valid batch of emails and messages on that machine. The illusion would not need to hold up for long, just long enough for people to vote and the attention to go away.

Similar ridiculous claims happened in 2016 against Hillary Clinton. Some of those stories were even more ridiculous; Like the pizza-pedo story, satanic worship and a secret cabal that was in charge of the new world order. The Trump group tried the same thing in 2020 with the Hunter Biden laptop story but this time nobody was biting. It only had play with the most partisan edges of the lunatic fringe.

I bet that you will not hear another serious claim about this laptop. It may suddenly get lost or maybe someone will claim that pizza delivery people with chinese made neodymium magnets snuck in and erased the hard drive.

They are fine with the exchange of information when it supports their particular position; Looking back four years to when the Trump campaign actively invited foreign intelligence agencies to break in to the systems of his opposition. The republicans played the vulnerabilities of social media very well in 2016.

When 2020 elections rolled along they found that those same stunts did not have the same impact. Some social media companies began to filter out or label the blatant lies and to shut down state sponsored troll farms. Then suddenly it was "all so unfair".

Irrespective of what party or position is in power or the personal leanings of the owner of a social media platform we need the truth. And only the truth, no obstifucation, no dissemination, parsing or spin. If a social media company wants to allow messaging to be broadcast across their platform as "the truth" then they have some responsibility to monitor and validate the statements and claims being made.

If users want to play in that game then their actions should fall under the terms and conditions of their use on that particular platform. It does not matter if it is the president of the united states, joe the plumber down the street or a soccer mom posting anti-vax BS. If it is incorrect information then it should be limited in distribution or downvoted.

It would be similar to the karma system here on /. If you participate and provide thoughtful feedback or discussion than your message adds to the conversation. If it is lies, trolling or spin it gets downvoted to oblivion and with enough of those downvotes you just get to the point where you can no longer contribute.

ACARS has several component systems; some are common to all airlines and others are unique to each particular carrier. I am guilty of engineering a retrofit of lighting at a oil terminal to replace the long, yellow, low-pressure sodium lighting bulbs (400 watts) with 1500 watt HID lights.

The old light system was dim, with poor color rendition. The oil terminal could not do any work in the yard at night and it was difficult to detect a problem. (it was dark).

I went about in replacing all of the low pressure sodium lights with new 1500 watt, HID heads on the poles. Not being the one who was actually doing the wiring and never having gone back to that site at night, I did not know how bright it would be.

A year later I was flying into O'Hare airport (runway 14L) and looked out the passenger window. I saw this enormous white blur of lights about a mile away from the end of the runway. It was dazzling. Looking closer I recognized the layout of the oil terminal.

The installers put the fixtures on the poles but did not tilt them down enough. At least half the lighting was shining right into the eyes of the pilots on approach of 14L. I quickly asked our guys to tilt those damned lights down.

It was probably bright enough in the cockpit of the plane so they could have read a book while on approach.

I work in the electrical engineering field and have worked with a few other engineers who had been working as H1B workers.They did not have a particular talent or specialty that was lacking in any "domestic" engineer we had on staff. I had a thyroid disorder and I opted for the Iodine 131 treatment instead of surgery. It was an internal contaminant and my sweat and urine were radioactive and I emitted enough radiation that I was supposed to stay away from people for several days (there are biological half-lives for elements in the body that are quite different from isotope decay half-lives). The treatment essentially "killed" my thyroid on purpose since it was on it's own version of a nuclear meltdown.
