Comment The meaning of 'protect' here (Score 0) 49

When big corporations, in general, and MS, in particular, say that they are 'protecting' their customers what they mean is that they are trying to keep said customers dependent on them lest those customers will leave. MS is rightly afraid that the shenanigans of the orange orangutan in the White House are generating a repulsion to American products abroad, meaning that MS fears customers will ditch MS's products in favor of other, non-American providers. That's all.

For the most part, the Copilot can do things that you can do yourself just as easily, and probably almost as fast, but it cannot yet do the things you would really like for it to be able to do. An extra factor is that it often gives you the wrong answer (i.e. code that won't compile or that won't do what you want) or it just returns false information. It's Cortana on steroids - but still Cortana.

We've been trying to collapse our way to fusion since the 1960s. One thing we have learned in that time is that it is much, much harder than we initially thought, and that the timing and symmetry has to be *perfect*.

That's controlled, energy-yielding fusion. Uncontrolled (i.e. thermonuclear bombs) is costly, but not that difficult, and controlled, energy-sucking fusion is even easier and cheaper.

Comment Not all humans are extroverts (Score 0) 87

In a nutshell, this is yet another stupid organization who does not understand that not everybody is an extrovert; and that forcing introverts to be in the office kills their performance. Organizations led by such ignorant morons might just as well advise that introverts need not apply.
