It wasn't 7 years to find the right spot. It was 7 years to realize Texas isn't as accommodating as he hoped, and he can buy off a broke state cheaper than a rich state. Of course, finding enough people to move to the Texan Everglades was easy compared to finding enough who will live in the bayous to run his steel penis rocket facilities.

I'm still salty about the switch to SystemD in the first place. I grew up on the simplicity of Linux's three tenets:

1. Everything is a file
2. Everything should be kept as simple and discreet as possible
3. Text (ASCII) based files wherever possible for configs and logs

SystemD came along and just blew all three of those out of the water and made it look and act more like Windows with its complications. And now it's pushing non-needed items like Birthdate into the core functions.

Higher costs and regulations are certainly a factor, but Samsung already has operations in Texas. It makes sense to consolidate those in these uncertain times.

A family member works for law enforcement in the camera and data department, and uses Flock cameras all the time, for all kinds of crime. They have proved very useful and have improved the departments efficiency tremendously.

All access to the software is logged, and every access has to be reported and attached to investigations.

I personally do not want a surveillance state, but it seems silly to ignore technology that improves law enforcement and saves money at the same time. As long as strict controls are in place, which do not allow abuse, and it remains within the strict uses outlined by law, why not?
