As more sites start seeing a drop off due to people getting their answers from AI, where will AI get it's data to train from if it has nothing to scrape? (Legalities and morals aside). It feels like it'll become self defeating over time or hit a wall of not having any new things to reference.

Even if it doesn't, it still provides a great baseline in a modern day language that can then be maintained. Think of how you could bootstrap old COBOL and FORTRAN apps to a modern language and then have your devs maintain it from there. Yes it may not be 100%, but if it gets you even 80% of the way there in 5 minutes, that can potentially be months and months of saved time.

Key word being "licensed" not "made available for free". If you look at the licensing terms it becomes very one sided on Tesla's part and no major company would even think of doing it, hence a common open standard was made. If you want a read, this is straight from the fine print:

This requirement most likely won't be in the Enterprise version which is pretty much what all major businesses run. Same with a lot of the telemetry being turned off. Microsoft knows where majority of their revenue comes from. Consumers are just along for the ride because the businesses keep Microsoft going.

Assuming you don't need to run both simultaneously (which is sounds like based on the premise) why not have a system that can let you swap hard drives, be it via a physical switch between two PCIe SSDs, or physically via a caddy (Just don't lose it!). You're basically using the same system at that point and keeping your data physically separated. At that point you would have to have a persistent firmware based infection to be able to have your other data compromised.

Anytime I have not done updates on Sonos it just prevents *new* features, but it does not take away old ones. As long as you leave the controller and units on the same version you'll have the same level of functionality you always did unless a 3rd party changes their integration method. In which case you could lose access to that service, but that is because the Sonos would have required an update to fix integration anyway.

If you use it for things like local music on a NAS or PC, you'll be fine if you stop where you are, but the product will not "cease to function".

Oh wow, this makes me laugh. I own quite a few rentals and I guarantee if you tried to negotiate like that I'd have no problem not renewing your lease and finding someone else while simultaneously raising the rent. It's not as hard to find someone to replace you as you may think.

Now if you were a good tenant and not a dick about things, I wouldn't raise your rent, but I also won't be making "substantial improvements" as you think you deserve.

I think what really bothers me about this is we're happily tearing down any support nets in the US and instead relying on the goodwill of strangers. This really leans more towards "the rich get richer" because they continue to hoard their money as rather than their tax dollars working towards the welfare of all people for basic needs, people now have to rely on others' post tax dollars if they're lucky.

This is the march towards a pure capitalist society which I think it's going to have it's own host of issues and really pushes the "I got mine, screw you" mentality, rather than trying to help all people in times of need.

Honestly it comes down to what you end up using it for. I have an older 360 that I mainly use for media right now and occasionally gaming. The ability to upgrade to a XB1 which has backwards compatibility for most games I play, coupled with both a 4K video player and a UHD-BD drive for $299 is very tempting. Most new UHD drives cost way more than that (I know price will come down).

That being said, as a casual gamer and more media consumer, this hits my sweet spot.
