I started reading Compute magazine during the late 1970s which led to my first Commodore 64. Byte magazine was a big part of the mix. I used the same C64 to dial in to a PDP-11 for my CS degree mid 80s. The application I used as a terminal (do not recall the name) emulated a 80 column CRT on the 40 character C64. Cool times.
I have Skype credit which I assume I will lose but the bigger issue for me is Teams as a replacement. I have no experience with it but after a brief test drive it appears to be much more than I need to make an international phone call.
If there is one area GIMP needs improving it is the interface. It is not an intuitive program to use and even understood tasks can be a struggle to accomplish. I'm hoping for improvement since the software is impressive.
Nice blast from the past. The Amulet of Yendor was mine one time. As an aside, when I was a young CS major the local university suggested playing Rogue to sharpen vi (editor) skills. I never played Rogue other than using the vi keys (h,k,j,l).
The problem with raw job numbers is they frequently don't include details such as compensation and sector. If you want to work in the service industry (food, hospitality, etc) jobs are available. Tech or professional positions not so much.
