That's irrelevant. The point made above is that you need a car to escape in times of sudden onset disaster. I am asking if that also holds in large cities. Generally speaking, the whole discussion is I think more interesting about large cities, since it's already clear that in less dense areas you need a car anyway.

Well, we've had examples of getting most of the city of New Orleans out with hurricane Katrina.....

Yeah...like we're going to go through the expense, time and inconvenience of tearing down our cities to rebuild them in the new "redesigned" way....

But you can put that charger at your home and charge over night.

A significant number of people in the US can NOT do this....

I've read at least 1/3 or more of the country do not have this as any sort of option....not there and never will be in some rentals....or even owned homes in areas with no off street parking.

But does anyone know if this is a real thing in some states?

I've never lived anywhere where appliances were required for apartments...

Hell, for years where I live and rented, I had my own refrigerator , and big chest freezer and microwave....that I moved from place to place....as that there weren't. Any supplied by most landlords.

Sounds too feminine, girly.....

Say what you want..."be progressive", "It shouldn't matter what it's called"....etc.

But you're not going to change nature or societal norms/culture....and a lot of guys are going to think this is geared towards women and may not even give it a try....

Branding is an important thing....ask the ad agencies that spend billions if not trillions each year with brand names that will help sell a product.

Just an initial thought that struck me right off to bat, and if it hit me, it will hit others....

And besides....I would NOT want to depend on public transport, or car sharing or renting when I have to get the fuck out of town quickly....for an oncoming hurricane!! If you live anywhere with weather related problems, you want your own vehicles....and in the US, pretty much everyone deals with some sort of potential, semi-regular brush with nature....hurricanes, fires, floods, earthquakes, etc.....

I have never owned my car my entire life, and I have a task that would need a car once in 2-3 years or so -- I got used to the public transport. But, there's a ton of cars parked everywhere, as apparently some people still use them. If cheap car rental was available, a good part of them could get rid of the hassle of a personal car.

I'm willing to put down serious money that you are not an American living in an American city....

Hell, to me, just little things like having my radio stations on the pre-select there, having my Quadlock hardware there so I can drop my phone in the holder for viewing/charging, access.....the same connections I have on my motorcycle.....there's all sorts of personalization stuff.

What about seat adjustment? I don't wanna be constantly having to readjust that every time a "new" car comes to me...

Something also tells me they're not going to be providing my FUN sporty cars like I've always owned all my life....2-seater cars with performance, handling, etc....?

So why are you worried now? Are you scared that you might accidentally install a third party app store, click through all the warnings, and then search for and install an app?

Are the 3rd party apps CLEARLY marked as 3rd party and not vetted by Apple?

If not,that would help....

And...what warnings? My experience with app store is, I click to install and it may ask for my apple password (especially if it costs money)....but there are not EULAs or warnings I've ever seen before....?

Apple Sells phones, Samsung sells phones...Google sells phones...and others....there are choices out there....

If Apple thinks it's bad for the consumer, it must be good for us.

Actually it says a lot about how shit their security is if they can't even allow third party software distribution without it being a serious issue.

I bought Apple BECAUSE of "it just works" and not having to worry about crap from 3rd party vendors....

If you want all out choice (good or bad) there are other options.....I wish they'd just let Apple continue to be apple.
