Comment Only works on campus... (Score 1) 288

I know its stated in TFA, but such regulations only effect on campus students, and at a school like mine, that's only about 5-10% of the total student body. So this regulation most likely has absolutely no effect on 90% of the students. And even the freshmen on campus know the ways around it, one of my friends always just uses the wireless of his off campus fraternity house to do all of his illegal downloading.

Do you want to ban drivers from speaking to their passengers too?

No... no no no no! People in the passenger seat are not the issue, because they are aware of the environment around the driver. If the driver is about to run a redlight during the conversation, the passenger will hopefully say something along the line of "hey, don't run the damn redlight" On the other hand, the person on the phone is NOT aware of the environment around the driver, and will NOT notice such things. Studies have shown this if memory serves, but class just let out and I am unable to find them in time.

So how are they not a religion? Just substitute "science fiction" with "fantasy" and you have pretty much every religion out there.

regardless of what I personally believe, every other religion, factually, is not a "money making scheme" because of the sole fact that the other religion's attempts to make money all hindge on the "good will" of others to give money. Churches (outside CoS) aren't "pay to play." but rely on donations to stay open. They don't charge you for coming to church sunday morning... if they did, I think about 90% of the people that go to church wouldn't anymore. Although the argument could be made about the power grabbing... but calling every religion a money grabbing scheme is not only inaccurate, but down right stupid.

I yet have to find someone who can show me what it brings me, over XP, that is worth paying 100+ EUR for.

Thats a simple answer: Its not worth the upgrade from XP. If I had to pay for it (getting it free through university) I wouldn't be using it. I would only wait till I built a new computer, and even then it would probably dual boot to XP for better gaming.

The modern state of the US is easy for cowards to criticize.

Smooth.

Anyone who denounces you and your state is a coward. Nice, but I guess good Germans^W Americans dont question the acts of their government for such things are considered against the greater good.

Allow me to quote Winston Churchill:
"Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things."

hey don't realize that staying in Afghanistan and Iraq keeps the war in Afghanistan and Iraq

This is wrong as it ignores all the other factors involved in the equation.

There is absolutely no evidence that this is true. I could just as well say that I have a rock (here in Australia) that keeps the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, not in the US. You would have a hard time proving or disproving either point.

But hey, dont let the facts or reality get in the way of your jingoism, go team.
