That's why the manufacturers got prohibited from SELLING disposable plastic items (e.g. straws) to consumers,

Where exactly did this ban on plastic straws happen?

I remember a couple years back seeing paper straws offered and places.....but that's long since disappeared from anywhere I live or visit.

And I've never seen plastic straws disappear here....

So SIX YEARS before just HR/Payroll software STARTS to roll out to just one small portion of the organization sounds reasonable? Granted, it can be a mess working with multiple vendors. But this sounds really long for something with such a [seemingly] narrow scope. HR/Payroll is a function that *every* business/organization does and it isn't rocket science. Surely 80+% of what they are doing is the same as anywhere else and is already written code/products.

While you would think there is a lot of commonality....that just is not the case.

All the different branches have different naming standards and policies and that doesn't even touch upon the many MANY idiosyncrasies that are embedded in LAW that you really cannot change....that's HAVE to be done a certain way....and pretty much none of it fits even remotely cleanly into a COTs products.

If you could easily change the business processes to fit the software, that would be easy, but then again....I might as well wish for a pony, and $10million in gold that comes with the stable for it....

Maybe you missed it, but there's been a pretty big resurgence of film use in the past decade or two....for stills cameras as well as it still being an important media for motion pictures. So, there's film and the development chemicals sold for that....

Where are you seeing this?

I've got multiple 401K's out there from different jobs over the years....none of them discouraged or limited me from managing it myself......

I'll grant you over the years, some had more options to choose from that other early ones, but overall I've been quite free to invest my money as I wished in my 401K's when working W2 at times.
