Is Apple hardware or software used much to run other equipment compared to Windows and *ix? It is probably a tiny fraction. It is much easier for Apple to deprecate their systems when the majority of their systems are used as desktop computers. Sure maybe there is some occasional older software with compatibility issues but the domain of issues is much smaller since they are pretty much only in the desktop space.

I don't know of any org that was prepared. Even the creators of AI clearly haven't been prepared for it's acceptance and use..

I've been working in higher-ed (community colleges) for a long time. The majority of community college students are local as they should be. Validating their ID in person at their nearest campus should NOT be an issue.

Online classes are very popular. They are more convenient and sometimes easier.

Community colleges are low cost options for higher ed. Lower cost means lower overhead, like payroll. You get what you pay for.

I have worked in higher-ed for a long time and this problem is all over. Two year schools have it the worst since they keep the bar pretty low for getting enrolled.

I agree that we need to stay competitive. There are plenty of public universities available at much cheaper rates. If private schools (aka businesses) want to charge high rates then let the market sort it out.

If someone wants to attend a private school they cannot afford then that is a problem for them and the school to work out. Maybe government backed loans could be limited to whatever the public institution rate is for their state.

Spot on. Whatever they are doing to verify students is not working. If they are paying 3rd party services then they should hold them accountable. If they are doing it internally then the school (and the financial aid admins) should be held accountable.
