Journal KGIII's Journal: I'm not dead... 6

I haven't been around much. Other things have consumed my time. Slashdot lost some appeal.

But, I decided to revisit and I even posted a few comments. I've visited some in the interim, but seldom commented.

How the hell are there 10,000,000+ user accounts?!? Are they all bots? Was there a massive bot invasion that registered *millions* of accounts for the purpose of spamming the site?

There aren't that many comments these days. With 10,000,000 human users, I'd expect an increase in the number of comments. I don't think there is an increase, but actually the opposite.

In this case, it's a throwaway account.

          Ah, now I get it.

          Thanks!

A part of me is actually a bit surprised that Slashdot still exists at all.

          • Like you, I used to visit more frequently. I'm amazed it's still going. People used to blog here, too :-)
  • Wow! That's the best news I've heard in a while here! I was hoping that was the story, and after a while it was clearly the case for most of us. Its a fluke I even noticed your posting before another six months ticked by... It really slowed down after they nuked AC postings at some point, but before that it was getting to be a bad Turing Test. Anyway, early on my imagination went crazy. Also, notably absent was Barbara Hudson, who I was worried about actually, if you're still in touch. Anyway, I h
