If you value the transportation mode "stuck in car traffic" so high, then sure.

I've never experienced this stuck in traffic for long periods you seem to assume everyone deals with.

Unless you are in a HUGE city like Los Angeles or maybe Houston....you generally do not deal with this....at least not across the whole US.

Reducing car dependency however helps with many urban qualities, including preserving green spaces, ability of kids or the elderly to get around on their own

Well, this ONLY applies to if you want to live in a densely packed urban setting.

Many folks, self included decidedly do NOTwant to leave in an urban setting.

I hope I never again have to share walls with neighbors like I did as a college student and young adult living in apartments.

I like stand alone houses....PLENTY of green space, indlucing a nice bit I have fenced in for my own private use for BBQ's, parties with friends and neighbors....etc.

I rarely if even encounter congestions....oh the roads get a bit packed during Mardi Gras with so many parade routes blocking some traffic, etc...but aside from times with major festivals going on around the New Orleans area....or any other cities I've lived in...the endless traffic and congestion is simply not something most of us encounter in the US.

You know...I don't think I've ever SEEN an underground parking lot....

Most apartment complexes I've seen are just apartment buildings surrounded by large parking lots, almost never assigned spaces so first come first serve.

But a lot of people rent houses and the landlords usually don't want tenants to be modifying the properties to add chargers and well, why would a tenant want to pay for that and leave it when they move?

Also, depending on the city, not everyone even HAS offstreet parking....

Why doesn't the office parking lot have charging points?

Because that would be a large $$ expenditure to retro fit parking lots....where most of them would go unused, because there simply aren't THAT many people driving EVs here...at least no across most of the nation aside from say the west coast...

I very rarely see any EVs at all in the New Orleans area for instance...

Well, that's the thing....my example of construction work.

This used to be a good wage for a LOT of US citizens 2-3 decades ago.....and the wages went to hell when all the illegals came in and drove down the wages.

If there are only US workers...the wages will have to go up and maybe we can have good employment again for people that want to work in those sectors.

I wonder if over a period of time as actual US citizens start taking back jobs, say like in construction...if this will start to balance things out a bit....?
