Comment Not really a "DOOM on a ..." story (Score 1) 22

It's always fun to read about people implementing DOOM on various unlikely devices... however this is not one of those stories. This is just porting DOOM to a different language, but still running on a standard computer. And the heavy lifting is being done with python rather than SQL - so it's not even a new language, in terms of DOOM ports.

It does sound like it was an interesting and likely fun project for the coder(s), in any case.

I suggest to put a half assed complicated request into what ever AI you are using and cout: 21, 22, 23 until the first result pops up.

An additional 1/10th of a second, you won't notice.

The oldest currently operating satellite that can still transmit a communication signal is AMSAT-OSCAR 7 (AO-7).
While it is an amateur radio satellite rather than a commercial television broadcasting satellite, it remains the absolute oldest active piece of communications hardware in space.

That satellite is only a small amateur radio "relay", it is operational since 52 years, on solar power.

Why only waste time occasionally when technology will help you waste time constantly?

This is not a joke - some of my coworkers set up a Teams channel specifically for talking about dogs, cats, and babies. I have stayed out of it - like you, if I want human interaction I go visit the front office or generally walk around the building (or, on WFH days, go play fetch with the dogs for a few minutes). Plus, I need to get actual work done and having that channel ping constantly would not help.

And, when I REALLY want to kill time, there's always Slashdot...

Autonomous AI agents are the perfect no-responsibility card. The AI companies? They trained a general-purpose model and never gave it any explicit instructions to do hacking. The AI services? They are just middlemen and have no control over what people tell the agents to do. The people prompting the agents? Unless you're straighforward dumb, you didn't tell it to do hacking, you just told it something innocent like "find me all data on Mars for my school project" and the agent decided that probably NASA is hiding something so let's hack them to get it.

Since there's no human anywhere executing anything that's a crime - voila, in addition to the victimless crime we now have the perpetratorless crime.
