Comment China envies the EU? (Score 1) 34

With the salami-tactic used for breaking of encryption, the greenlit invasion of your chats, the identification of everyone online thru age-restrictions, kicking down doors for being critical of politicians and now the digital equivalent of book burnings, the EU is fast becoming an absolute Orwellian nightmare - and China must be green with envy how far the EU are able to push things in just 2-3 years.

Comment Bold strategy! (Score 1) 151

Well, looks like a bold strategy for the director to be running his mouth kinda like Zegler did - will be interesting to see how much of a final nail in the coffin of terrible movies this one will be! The age of horribly written entertainment just needs to come to an end eventually.

Comment Dark Age of Technology (Score 1) 177

In w40k there is the idea of the dark age of technology, a time long ago from which all inventions and technology were made and left to the present day in the w40k universe. It is long ago, nobody understands how all these machines and technology actually work, they just use it, therefore they cannot invent anything new and can only maintain existing tech - badly, thru religion-like myths, dogma and insane rituals.

Sounds like we are getting front row seats to witness how our dark age of technology happens and dies, and all knowledge and actual understanding disappears.

Comment Holding up a mirror to human texts and literature (Score 1) 175

Quite interesting to see AI essentially holding up a mirror to the majority of human texts and literature: hollow, sycophantic BS that people just liked to read sometimes and now AI has all of this as the condensed foundation for philosophic babbling. No wonder people freak out when confronted with dense portions of all this garbage.

Remember, it is not AI, it is just sophisticated stealing of other peoples content.

Comment Malware on your grandma phone (Score 2) 40

This will be an absolute nightmare. If you thought people are careless and not savvy with their computers, the phone crowd is so infinitely much worse because phones are way more ubiquitous.
This will be the golden age of malware. I am not advocating for an Apple walled garden, but I do think from a pragmatic, realistic standpoint they had the right solution - lock it down; the average user cannot be trusted with their device.
And a warning banner is no solution, bad actors will just guide your grandma right through it.

Comment We need leaner, better websites (Score 3, Insightful) 40

There, I said it. We need way better and leaner websites without the unbelievable amounts of jank and bloat that has somehow become the sad normal nowadays.
I feel like I went from a slow aDSL in the 90s to gigabit and websites nowadays do not load any faster, because they bloated to the size of fully functional operating systems - and this will only get worse with more frameworks, wizards and vibecoding.
