In 2016 Amtrac got One Billion Three Hundred Eighty Five Million dollars in grant money, from the U.S. Department of Transportation ->Federal Railroad Administration. That's in addition to the money they get for, you know, selling tickets...

As long as studios keep up outrageous fees for online streaming licenses, the physical discs will remain popular - both for rental and purchase. Over the long term they will probably decline, but I wonder if greed has any expiration...

If you say something they usually give you a credit towards digital merch or add an extra month of (lackluster?) service to your Prime account. They have missed the mark a few times, but if you call they will make some kind of amends... and it's hard to beat the return policy on FBA.

Yeah. Directions where I grew up always seem to reference at least one landmark that hasn't existed for decades. For example, "take the road up the hill behind the old Zellers building". Never mind that Zellers closed over 20 years ago and it's had several other department stores in it since....

The summary and the article don't say that, but I have no doubt you are right. It's hard to beat Mother Nature, so let's co-opt her!

The story did mention that the enzyme was not optimized (do to young age of the whole process no doubt) and suggested a transplant of the mutant enzyme into an “extremophile bacteria” for a greater range of temperature resistance... I can hear Jeff Goldberg saying "Yes Yes, make it hard to kill!
