Journal Ethelred Unraed's Journal: [Kiddo II] Trumpets and alarums: Her Royal Highness 53

Hear ye, hear ye! All rise for Her Royal Highness Elizabeth Dorothy of the House of Unraed!

4080 g, 54 cm
(9 lbs. and 21 1/4 inches in real men's units)
4:02 pm local time
Cesarean delivery...which is fortunate, because BoE's old C-section scar was apparently about to burst (only the amniotic sac was still intact)

The most esteemed members of the regal family of the House of Unread are all in good condition. The Confessor was quoted as saying "Bladth da gurda blth", which was met with much rejoicing by the masses outside Her Majesty the Bride Royal of Ethelred's window.

Let her name resound from the hilltops! Let ev'ry man rejoice in her glorious name! Let everyone change her diapers for us!

...

And with that, I'm off to bed for some well-deservèd rest.

  • Is it bad that I take a certain amount of glee in the same manner that you did regarding the possibility of upsetting el MIL?

Now, put 'er in a blue hat and let the fun begin. :^)
  • I'm glad everything went so well.

Now, here's hoping she sleeps through the night for you!

    Happy happy joy joy.

Oh, and piss off the MIL :)
  • Now exactly how much is a gram anyways? I can never quite grasp this "gram" thingy.

What's an example of something that weighs 1 gram?
  • This is becoming old shoe, now, isn't it? ;)
  • And tell The Confessor "That's bladth doroty gurda elzablth" - pronunciation is important for the future ruler of the world.

I am happy to hear that all are doing well. She's a beautiful baby. :-)

    Congratulations! Woo woo!
  • I can already see the plotting and planning going on beneath those shut little eyes...MOWAHAHA!!!
  • Very happy for you and your family. A princess to be reckoned with.
  • Glad to hear all are doing well. Don't step in the meconium.
  • Daniil: (bows to Her Royal Highness -- and instantly receive a kick in the back! Obviously, someone just cannot wait in line like all the others (and I wonder who that could be?)) Ow! (Rolls left off the stage)

Impatient person: (bows to Her Royal highness -- and is kicked in the back) Ow!

    Etc.

  • Congratulations! Well done. Geeks need to breed.
  • Best wishes to Her Royal Highness, and the rest of the Unread clan.
  • Best news I have heard all day! Congrats to you and yours!

  • Now get ready for rewind of the early days of The Confessor. At least you've got him there to help you. :)
  • Alles Gute aus dem Rheinland! :)

Congrats, and welcome to the club of parents with older boys and younger daughters. You'll find that girls are quite different. If the service isn't as expected, prepare for extensive complaints... ... and BTW, beautiful baby. :) Congrats also to BoE, as she's had most of the work to bring your princess home.
  • I'm happy for y'all, and happy to be recycling the same damn subject line over and over around these parts.
  • Congratulations!
  • And I curse you with many more children.

What's up with the bursting thing? Aren't there important things in there?
    • Yes, and fortunately they're STILL in there where they belong, apparently.

Rarely, the incision has to be made, or extended, vertically into the upper part of the uterus ("classical" incision) in order to get the baby out. After a classical incision, future labor is too much of a stress for the uterine scar --it will burst and all subsequent pregnancies will have to be delivered by a repeat cesarean section.

      From pregnancy-info.net, FWIW.
      • In BoE's case it was just a simple horizontal incision, so just why it burst is a bit of a mystery. Possibly it was just because the pregnancy was so soon after the previous one, and the scar hadn't quite totally healed, though they said that we should be OK so long as BoE didn't have a baby within a year of the Confessor (it's now been 18 months).

The pregnancy wasn't actually planned, though -- we certainly wanted a second child, but wanted to wait a bit. Oh well, she came earlier than expected. ;-)

  • *dance of joy*

Being too far away to regale her with the traditional "dragon song of the world which is glad to greet your daughter," i will have to offer the short version here:

    The world is vrey old
    and before NOWWWWWWWWWWWW
    never had a you

and we're very very very very
    very glad you're born!

Eth, i'm real glad your family is doing well, and pray that this will continue to be the case as much as possible for as long as humanly possible, and then some.

  • Now you have siblings to war with each other for world dominance :-)
  • What a joy to hear, Eth! She is an absolutely lovely baby.

And you know, about the scar thing... The OB was screaming bloody murder about me rupturing and everything, too. Actually, I think it was his malpractice insurance payments that he was screaming about, but somehow it came out as dire warnings of death and permanent infertility for me. Go figure.

Enjoy these first lovely days of peace & brand-new babydom. They are so fleeting!

      Many thanks, m'dear!

And you know, about the scar thing... The OB was screaming bloody murder about me rupturing and everything, too.

FWIW apparently the scar did tear -- she said she could already see the baby's head through it. Apparently made the delivery rather tricky (and it did seem to take rather longer this time).

(Must be off to take the Confessor to meet his new nemesis^Wsibling...)

      Cheers,

      Ethelred

  • What else can be said? Good luck and best health fomr mom and babe!
  • Congratulations! Here is to continued health and happiness for all of you.
  • That's fantastic!

(I'll let you be the first to know, surreptitiously where no one else will see it but you, that we are in direct competition with you, and are scheduling our next release for February.)
  • I'm good for two rejoices, one resound, and a diaper changing. I'll be in Switzerland for Christmas that's as close as I get. I'm not sure Die Poste would handle that stuff in the mail though...

Congratulations and I'm glad all are doing well.
  • Beautiful girl.
    Who sired her, pray tell?
  • Very fine news to hear!
  • Lucky you. Now Joseph has yet another /. circle chick to consider as a future conquest.
    • Well, cross mine off the list -- they're lesbians. (In the grand Smithie tradition, of course!)

      ....Bethanie....
      • Is that anything like a lipstick lesbian? Because if Joe is anything like daddy, that's not a problem.
        • They grow 'em in all flavors at Smith.

But the point of being a lesbian is eschewing men altogether -- giving them a big ole "FUCK OFF" in word (not deed) only.

          • eschewing men altogether -- giving them a big ole "FUCK OFF"

Once a Smithie, always a Smithie, I see. Good luck with the 'Do as I say, not as I do.' :)
  • Hope all are doing well...
  • Get the rest now, it will be needed soon enough. :) I'd imagine the Confessor will enjoy being the big brother.
  • Glad to hear the child and bride are doing well.
  • May she live long and never prick her finger on any kind of textile creation machinery...

    *grin*

    Pix
  • Congrats!
  • ...but congratulations. I hope that both mother and child are well, and that the older sibling isn't too jealous of all the attention being paid to the new arrival.
  • Dammit, teach me to go not paying attention to current events...

What can I say? Congratutions++! :) Time shall tell re the commanding huge robot armies and subduing whole planets bit, it's early days yet. And judging by the picture she's probably more interested in napping ATM.
