I don't know where you got your knowledge about EV's but it is plain wrong.
Yes EV's are a little heavier so they have some more tire wear, especially if you use bad tires on them.

BUT, EV's rarely use their physical brakes (they regen brake) and no emissions from a tailpipe.
They massive reduce the tiny particle emissions compared to an ICE, let alone compared to a diesel car.
And that is not even taking in account that an EV takes about 1/3 of the energy required to move compared to an ICE car.

I agree though that you yanks have a serious car addiction and really need to make better public transport and walk-able cities.

The point of it all does seem to be racism and power, but he is clueless about that because MAGAs repeat talking points that kind of seem reasonable. The whole point of the policies, boiled down, is to make America white, and absolute power. I am white and I already feel some fear at voting next year, I just know there will be masked MAGA police answerable only to Trump asking for my papers before I am allowed to vote.

I was thinking today... that after next November, and the Democrats take back the House, that there will be a non-stop series of impeachments over all sorts of things, but I suspect Bribery will be prominent. Of course the Senate will acquit, but it will be a popcorn period of time watching a great soap opera.

And I don't know how to inform you of this, but the year is now 2025 and the Cold War and the politics therein ended nearly four decades ago. And USAID was not created "to smuggle CIA officers" (though CIA offers used every means available to them to do their work, certainly), it was created as a counterbalance to the USSR's use of similar soft power to turn the Third World to *its* side.

They can go back at any point if they don't think the conditions and salaries offered are worth the job. What matters is that they remain free to leave, with no "catches" keeping them there (inability to get return transport, inability to communicate with the outside world, misinformation, etc etc). Again, there's a debate to have over what conditions should be mandated by regulation, but the key point is that the salary offered - like happens illegally today en masse - is lower than US standards but higher than what they can get at home.
