In the pass 15 years or so I have only bought one game on release day.

Dwarf Fortress (but I have been playing the ascii version for years by the time it was on Steam). And maybe a couple of other indie games, cant recall off hand.

Otherwise, most games are 6 months or later. Or games like skyrim was about 10 years later (got the anniversary? special edition? whatever was the latest) on a sale.

I did get a couple of DLCs for X4: Foundations on release day, but otherwise, everyone else can wait a while before I get around to them.

The way they will increase urgency is by screaming about going to the moon.

Not by increasing the budget. Or letting the people actually doing the work and knowing what needs to be done to lead the project. Politics means clueless people will normally end up demanding crap that makes things harder/more expensive (SLS anyone?).

Am sure it will work out well for them.

Volvo claimed the Luminar was having problems with software and hardware delivery, so they cancelled the deal.

From the link above (and other sites) :
In November, Volvo made the sudden announcement that it the 2026 ES90 and EX90 models would no longer be offered with a LiDAR sensor, attributing the decision to customer demand and “due to limited supply of the lidar hardware.” It also claimed that Luminar had failed to meet its contractual obligations.

Some other links mentioned software problems as well.

So don't know how much Volvo is to blame.

And on another note, Volvo invested in Luminar in 2016.

So presumably they lost that amount as well.

And there is a story further down stating Americans are not leading when it comes to many critical research.

Sure, remove alot of TV shows that talk about science and tech. And education.

Don't complain if America becomes irrelavant when it comes to many STEM topics in the next few decades.

Maybe someone should tell the government that without a strong STEM education, you will not a harder time making your new fancy weapons. Once China matches the tech level of whatever American weapons there are, it's game over as far as doing a pissing match with China around the south china sea. Or in places like Afrrica where China is spending billions to increase it's influence.

Looks like they have been 3D printing engine bits before "3D printing" was a term.

You sure there are virtually no 3D printed parts in aircraft?

Of course if you don't use the proper material to suit it's function, doesn't matter if it's something in the engine or something on the passenger cabin, it will go wrong sooner or later.

Intel screwed Optane by limiting it to very few chipsets of their own (not even able to use with all Intel systems, if you wanted).

If they had wanted Optane to take off, they would have openned it up, so it could be used by all Intel chipsets, and allow AMD and anyone else who wanted to use it, to also use it.

They would have made alot more money making Optane if there was higher demand, and it could still be around.

Too bad they tried to restrict it to such a small number of systems that it eventually had to die.

Trishkin’s sources said that Artemyev was expelled for violating the export restrictions of ITAR: the astronaut allegedly photographed the documentation of SpaceX, and then “brought secret information on the phone”. Arn't there some China companies making RAM? Including the memory modules on the DIMMs?

Maybe its time to have a closer look at them. If they are cheaper, and have decent specs, why would I not want to buy from them?

Anyway ram has no communication capabilities, so am not worried about security and stuff.
