Easy platform for working as team Date: Oct 27 2020
Summary: I would recommend this platform to anyone who is working remotely and needs to communicate with peers. It is a simple tool that allows most people to maneuver easily without confusion.
Positive: Slack offers easy-to-use platform with ability to collaborate with team or coworkers. I use the platform daily to communicate in groups, closed groups and individually for work. Being able to download the app to receive notifications is also an easy way to keep up-to-date. The ability to call and video call via platform is also features.
Negative: In rare occasions, Slack crashes prompting all features to not be able to work. I've been using the platform daily for over a year and has only happened twice.

Preferred Over Microsoft Teams, Highly Recommended Edited: Oct 26 2020
Summary: Overall, I prefer this over Microsoft Teams. It's got some minor issues, which may be more of a problem if you have an older computer or a flakey internet connection. I'd recommend if you have problems with font rendering to use the browser version on PC. There's also the theme glitching with the Android app, but that can easily be worked around. I haven't had any major issues with it and would love to see even more app integration. While the main focus of Slack is for professional usage, I could see, with some more apps added, that it could also be great for family/household management as well. I really like the theme choices and the ability to customize the theme, and the custom emojis, even though this doesn't really improve anything about using Slack itself. It's all the little things about it that make me enjoy it more than Teams, and for a non-professional comparison, Discord. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try, whether for work or for personal use.
Positive: There are a wide range of apps available to integrate with Slack, including popular ones you'd expect. There are lots of themes to choose from and you can even customize it. Small things like this, which don't overall affect useability, make my enjoyment of logging in just a little bit more and I wish more developers these days would get past the whole light/dark mode. So I really appreciate the base 20 themes available. Works across multiple platforms, so you can use it on PC or your phone with ease. Gifs, audio, video, upload everything with ease. You can upload tons of custom emojis too. Compared to Teams, I feel like overall, it runs smoother most of the time.
Negative: I'd prefer more darker themes added and even more app integration. Sometimes, it lags on the computer if you're using the downloaded software. This version can have issues with font rendering as well, depending on your computer. I haven't encountered these issues in the Android app or browser versions. Only the Windows program seemed to have this issue, and only on my old laptop. My other computer, which is a newer desktop, does not have this issue. Despite following suggestions, sometimes custom emojis don't render quite right either. It's very trial and error. The Android app has issues with keeping theme preferences if the theme was set through the app itself, but doesn't seem to have this issue if you set the theme through a browser on a computer or the Windows software.

Very User Friendly Date: Jun 19 2020
Summary: I would recommend Slack to anyone looking at using an internal communication tool. It was particularly useful during quarantine time.
Positive: We rolled out Slack a while ago and I was resistant at first, but as I began to use it, I realized how useful it was. It is very easy to use and I like the ability to call through Slack.
Negative: I thought the use of too many channels made it difficult to keep track of all the different posts happening.

Still among the best in the space Edited: Jun 01 2020
Summary: Slack's pretty robust, offering centralized messaging for organizations, video and voice calls, file sharing, and even calendar notifications via Slackbots that can be installed. But the pricing is horrible for smaller organizations, and its standalone app sometimes feels like it uses more CPU and memory than the webapp in a browser.
Positive: I've used Slack as a student, as a researcher, and as an employee of Fortune 500 companies. The teams I've been on like using Slack's workplaces over other options for messaging like Facebook groups or email, because Slack provides a central repository for organizational knowledge. The ability to search and reference guidelines from months ago is a huge help, and the analytics about user activity week by week helps us measure team engagement. There are many plugins and extensions (not sure if that's the right term here, but you get the idea) that integrate with Slack and make it more effective productivity wise, but it's also easy to waste time playing with Slack emoji reactions like :party_parrot: and Giphy.
Negative: Slack is a bit expensive. Even if you're a student org, the pricing is not friendly, and definitely not scalable. And with the free version you'll quickly hit a message limit of a few thousand messages (implementing Slack etiquette like telling people to post longer messages instead of many separate one line messages in a row helps, but it goes against instinct). Once that limit is hit, your org loses the ability to look up older messages and files, and that kinda defeats the purpose of Slack.

Great communication tool Date: May 28 2020
Summary: At this point in time, we wouldn't look at changing the app to any of its competitors. But with time, who knows. The main reason for keeping it is the integration module with JIRA and Dropbox. If you have a big enough organization and can pay for it this is probably the best collaboration app out there.
Positive: Ability to add extensions like JIRA, Dropbox.
Ability to create different rooms for different teams for more streamlined communication.
Conference call is another nifty feature that our team uses extensively.Negative: It's expensive than Discord which kind of does everything that Slack does.

The free version has a lot of limitations like the deletion of history. So, if there is a message sent a long time ago, it's gone. FOREVER. -

Significant instant message platform Date: May 27 2020
Summary: I send quick messages to my clients through it and Slack helps in pinning chats for others who may not be on shift right away. This gives me freedom to do more positive things.
Positive: It is very easy to use along with user friendly approach. I also appreciate its facility to discuss important things with others.
Negative: Nothing specific to dislike but one can easily distracted from his work by reading hundreds of messages received.

Very easy to use group communications! Date: May 25 2020
Summary: Slack helps me a lot during lock down! I communicate with my colleagues and family members. I regularly do official work using it. Screen sharing is also helping a lot. I feel it has an edge over Zoom.
Positive: Slack works on different operating systems, hence it gives me freedom to use from any computer. Moreover, it can also be used on mobile. I also like its capability of sending media files like audio/video. Hence, it gives extra wings to the user.
Negative: I do not like its poor sharing screen feature. However, apart from this, I did not find anything to complain for.

The lightest yet feature rich team collaboration app out there. Date: May 23 2020
Summary: I think Slack has emerged as the winner over a plethora of collaboration and team communication apps today. Although desktop integration could be made better I really think this app makes our lives easier.
Positive: - It has a very rich collection of customization options and built-in productivity tools.
- Feels really lightweight unlike apps like Skype and yet has the most features.
- Blends in quite well with other apps.
- Quite easy to share all sorts of documents.Negative: - The video quality is not up to the mark leading to the need for other apps like Zoom just for audio and video conferencing.
