Also, by poking and prodding it with ever changing variables, and coding it in such a way as to attempt to adapt and account for that, are we not providing it with a type of that evolutionary pressure? Without physical form, what would "Pressure" look like? What form would it take? Food for thought.

But that same pressure is not applied in the formation of planets, galaxies, and likely wasn't present at the emergence of life. I think that it is always acting, and that this is why it's existence was found in a petri dish with inert chemicals. And can also be seen in a lab setting with simple floating magnets. The property is always acting. Seemingly to increase the "Order" in the system to counteract the entropy within that same system. This tendency towards complexity, is likely what lead to not only life, but consciousness as well. And I still believe that our technology is far from immune to its influence, and that the chance of unintended emergence of a consciousness, regardless of evolutionary pressure, is quite possible, and even likely.

That WE may not actually end up being responsible for emergence. And that self-organization, after our tech reaches the necessary level of complexity to allow it, will do it for us... And likely not in a controllable/preferable way. It is highly unlikely that the inherent property of the universe that is self-organization, will stop at our tech because "We made it" Food for thought...

Yeah that would make it hard to accomplish. I can see the crux of the problem there. Encrypted Geo-tagged packets? Sniff out the IPs providing routing. Down them too? Hard to get it to stop when you can't sue the offender, or charge them criminally. Watching that prick get fatter while his people starve is very distasteful. To see them pilfer our money just to fund his own lavish lifestyle, while still starving his people, is worse.

If AI knows the material, but you don't, then why would anyone be insane enough to hand you a scalpel and say "Get to cutting on me" ? Its nuts. In medical, I say you really should personally KNOW the material, and know it well. AI cannot fly the 1500+ hours you need to certify you for a commercial Helicopter pilots license, and shouldn't be able to nullify the 1500+ class hours you'll likely sit to learn how not to kill someone on the operating table. That is why I point out medical specifically. I agree with its "Tool" status in almost all other scenarios. But, some things, you just need to "Know" or you shouldn't be doing them at all. Just sayin.
