Comment Facts convinced them? (Score 2) 134

I find it hard to believe a âfact deliveringâ(TM) AI convinced conspiracy theorists that their beliefs are wrong. They donâ(TM)t usually believe what they believe because of âwrong factsâ(TM) anyway. They believe what they believe because of emotion. You have to fix the emotional problem, not the factual information problem.

Comment Decide before you launch the streaming service (Score 1) 50

Even before streaming services, I hated when a former partner would just flick endlessly through all the options on cable TV. Now with my wife we do a little research by googling the sorts of things we might like to watch. Discuss our options away from any computer and then once a decision is made we watch the show on whatever streaming service provides it. We rarely spend any time in a streaming platform looking for something to watch from their offerings.

Quoting âoeHe finds that conservatives are able to predict liberals' answers just fine and seem to have a pretty good understanding of their worldviews, but that liberals have *no idea* how conservatives think or what they value.â This is also consistent with Liberals doing what they believe and conservatives do not. (Note: Iâ(TM)m not saying this is true, Im saying it could be true). This is a serious confounded variable that can be demonstrated to be active at least in US society and recently. For example, conservatives âbelieve in law and orderâ(TM) but 1/3 Republicans voters believe violence is necessary to âsaveâ(TM) America. Trump voters who would identify as conservative stormed the capital building. Studies that show liberals canâ(TM)t understand conservatives is not necessarily a strike against liberals. Maybe someone should ask if conservatives and liberals understand themselves.

Comment Speech is already moderated by the US government (Score 1) 199

You can not yell fire! in a movie theatre. No one has ever had the right to cause panic without reason. That is tested law. Besides, moderation or censorship of podcasts is not up to the government. Its up to the content providers. All the people who voted no are insisting those that pay to host podcasts are compelled to host _anything_ anyone wants to say. What a bullshit idea. Can I demand Spotify host my podcast where I upload a daily screed calling Joe Rogan a man-baby, Jordan Peterson is his lover and bleach is ok, nay, recommended as a COVID treatment? Of course they have the right to moderate or censor my from their platform.
