It's a nuisance, it's way more convenient to have everything turned on, but yeah, it's super creepy. I'd rather deal with the hassle.

Even more importantly, you can buy the amount of computer you need now, and if your needs change a little, you don't have to go out and buy a whole new computer, you can just swap in a bigger hard drive and more memory, and you're good to go. With the Mac, they tell you to pay a premium up front to get the amount of computer you'll think you'll ever need because everything is soldered in place. That's the biggest reason I refuse to buy a macbook.
I have the 13" MacBook Pro for work, and I already need extra dongles for ethernet, monitors, keyboard, and mouse. The new one only gives you 2 USB ports, and one of them will be used for power! I can't wait to see what they remove on the next big release!
There wasn't any damaging information in the DNC email leaks? You mean, like the emails from CNN sending them the interview questions for Clinton before doing an interview, or the whole scandal showing they were conspiring against Bernie Sanders which caused the ousting of Debbie Wasserman Schultz from the head of the party?
It's not that we consider 1% expendable, it's that we recognize that a long term lockdown solution may cause even more deaths than they hope to save. It's also unlikely we'll ever stop the spread of the virus unless everyone can test ourselves every day, and it's probably better to get this over with over the summer than have this still crippling us through the winter.
Make sure you follow up with your own difficult brain teasers that you've learned the answers to. After all, you don't want to find yourself working with a bunch of loser coworkers that can't solve these kinds of problems.
I gave the Pixel 2XL a try to see if I could get by without a headphone jack. Over the two years I used it, I purchased about 9 adapters because they kept going faulty, and I needed an adapter for every pair of headphones and car adapter. Any time I tried to use bluetooth in my other vehicle or bluetooth speaker, it was not seamless. I always had to fidget with things, tell it to try connecting again, or other nonsense. With the headphone jack, I always plugged it in and I never had to worry about whether the sound would come through the right place or not. The hassle of not being able to charge my phone while listening to it at the same time made long road trips another hassle and worry.
I finally ditched the Pixel 2XL and bought the Samsung 10+ as it was still a top tier phone with a headphone jack (and 1TB of internal storage!!!). I hate the fingerprint reader on the screen, the dedicated reader on my previous phones almost always worked, and that would be the primary reason for eventually ditching this phone. But having a proper headphone jack is more important.
They had a backup this time, what more could you ask for?
When you suck from the government's teet, you have to live by their rules, and those rules can change at any time.
You need court orders to take something away from someone. The threshold is much more lenient for whether you give to someone or not. Imagine a social credit score, like China has. Uh oh, you haven't said enough good things about the government this month. Looks like you're only going to get half of your allotment of government support. You said bad things about the president? No money at all for you. If you want to be in this program, you have to install government approved spyware on your computer and recording devices in your home to make sure you're living up to your end of the UBI bargain. Of course, you don't have to install those things, but then you don't get to be part of the UBI program. Good luck making it on your own.
If you rely on the government to take care of you, the government has all power over you. If you step out of line in the slightest way, they can revoke their support. We should be raising and training people to be self sufficient and be giving them the knowledge they need to grow up and take care of themselves and a family. Raising a generation of kids that require the government to take care of their basic needs is an incredibly scary thing.
I used to have fun with spammers, but then most of them became robocalls so all the fun went out of it.
When I moved from NC to OH, I kept my phone number as it was an Ooma VOIP system. It doesn't care where you're located. I signed up for the call filtering services through Ooma, but they did practically nothing. I'd get around 10 spams for every real call I got, and I was ready to throw my phone in the trash. Then I realized that most of the calls I got all came from a 919 area code, but I hadn't gotten a real call from that area code since I moved from NC. So I blocked all 919 numbers. Suddenly I was getting around 60% real calls and 40% spam calls, and most of those spam calls showed up as "800 Service" in caller ID. So I blocked all 800 numbers, and now I get about 1 spam call for every 10 real calls. It totally saved my sanity!
So, my recommendation is to use a VOIP service to get a phone number outside of your area code, and then block all numbers from that area code and all 800 numbers. You're welcome.
From about 2004 - 2015, all my computers were linux based (especially the time I worked for RedHat). But I always looked for linux-based jobs at small companies, so I always had the flexibility to pick the tools I needed for the job. It wasn't until I recently switched to the security field that my employers provided macs and didn't offer linux laptops.
Yeah, I'd really like to see the crash test results from this thing. The strong exoskeleton is great for farm use from the lack of denting, but I was just in a car accident where some teenager pulled out in front of me as I was doing 60mph on the highway. We were in a Honda Odyssey, and my 3 kids and I in the car were able to walk away because the car crumpled properly and absorbed a lot of energy from that crash. I'm not quite sure we would've been so lucky in this.
We all like praise, but a hike in our pay is the best kind of ways.
