Submission + - Hackers send malware-infected CDs to credit unions (threatpost.com) 2

redsoxh8r writes: Online criminals have taken to a decidedly low-tech method for distributing the latest batch of targeted malware: mailing infected CDs to credit unions . The discs have been showing up at credit unions around the country recently, a throwback to the days when viruses and Trojans were distributed via floppy disk. The scam is elegant in its simplicity. The potential thieves are mailing letters that purport to come from the National Credit Union Administration, the federal agency that charters and insures credit unions, and including two CDs in the package. The letter is a fake fraud alert from the NCUA, instructing recipients to review the training materials contained on the discs. However, the CDs are loaded with malware rather than training programs.

6-8 months later it is announced at a keynote at WWDC that the power of iTunes is breaking into new territory and the SDK for delivering programs, content, etc that has been used with iPhone has been adapted for offering in this new market stream. Apple fan boys see it as Steve sticking it to Bill by taking a piece of his pie. Bill laughs all the way to bank as he gets a cut of everything sold on his network.

Journal Journal: "itsatrap" tagging

Just glanced at the latest first page news here at /. and found out of the 20 articles listed, 15 were tagged with "itsatrap". Frankly I think that that tag has gone into spam mode. If I understand the idea behind the tags - to enable better/faster searches - then the "itsatrap" tag is just going to lump together a bunch of articles that are not "traps" and have pretty much nothing else in common with each other besides the over used tag.
