Comment What are we? (Score 1) 175

As harsh as it sounds violence (terrorism?) against the ruling class is the only thing they understand.
Unemployment, housing crisis, poverty, etc are issues that affect the society in general but are alien to politicians.

The fact that for example terminal cancer patients denied of healthcare aren't blowing themselves up in front of the congress speaks volumes of us as a society.
I don't think it's just related to "capability" or "access to guns"; we're an extremely polite and afraid group of people who may talk about violence but would never resort to it under any circumstances. Myself included.

I live in the civilised world (EU) and I've never seen a gun (except for cops) in my entire life. I don't know anyone who owns one and I just won't know were to buy one. But in the wild west (US)? I just don't understand why they would storm schools/offices on a weekly basis but they never aim higher. A part of course of one being an easy target.

If on a theoretical level I were to become violent, in my "moral compass", civilians would out of the equation. Even cops. They're middlemen after all. Politicians, CEOs, higher court judges, ... that's another question. But I just don't have it in me. And I'm an angry white male with a big mouth but nothing else.

And don't get my wrong I'm not condoning any of this, but there's always a but. There's always a point of no return and some people are able to cope with it better than others.

We've been conditioned, we're so used to being oppressed that we're unable to do harm to our oppressors. I guess there's a medical term for it.

Frankly I'm just amazed.

Comment Re:Press release including the accusation act (Score 1) 85

All the accusations seem very generic (they could apply to facebook, whatssap, or any other social media app without *direct control* from a government) but the last one intrigues me.

What do they exactly mean by "[...] cryptology method that does not exclusively permit authentication or integrity control, [...]" ?

Because the cynical in me believes it's all related to the last accusation: a non-broken encryption method.

Then blur their faces when doing distribution. Journalism should not be used as an excuse to perform a parallel judgement. Keep the original file for the trial and if they get convicted then publish it with the permission of the court.

Otherwise deal with the fact that paparazzi *are* journalists

The solution is quite simply IMHO:

Continue to allow filming in public but ban* it's distribution (youtube, titktok, etc) unless explicit consent is given

*Or at least force to blur the complete body and distort the voice.

That way you can still film yourself on the streets while respecting everybody's wishes.

I'm never going to fly a plane in real life (I don't even own a car!) but flying the routes I do with my bicycle is just AWESOME!!

The new perspective to the paths, recognizing landmarks, everything!
I just wish I could upload the gpx/tcx/fit file and I would highlight the roads because I sometimes get lost

And then there's the tourism part I wouldn't/couldn't do. Flying Italy, the US, Nepal, etc? It's relaxing and amazing at the same time

Shouldn't a DOS attack on a satellite be quite simple?
Just transmit enough power to desensitize the receiver and you're done.

Or if you want to brick it, increase the transmitted power even further until the LNA onboard just breaks?

But maybe I'm wrong because otherwise hostile countries would have already done it by now...
