Submission + - Networked Christmas Tree Controlled by Twitter (dangerousprototypes.com)

An anonymous reader writes: What's Twitter good for? How about crowd sourcing control of your Christmas tree. Dangerous Prototypes built an open source, networked Christmas tree that you can control from Twitter. Send a color or hexadecimal color code to @tweet_tree, then watch the color change on the live video stream. This project is based on an updated version of the open source business card size web server covered previously.

Submission + - #twatch Open Hardware Networked LCD Screen

An anonymous reader writes: Dangerous Prototype's #twatch is a DIY network appliance that displays real-time topic trends from Twitter. It can also show system statistics, RSS feeds, mail notifications, and more using a TCP server on port 1337 that accepts commands from LCD control programs like LCD Smartie (Windows) and LCDproc (Linux). Everything you need to build your own is on the project's page. We've covered this hardware hacker's work previously.

Comment The only one there? (Score 1) 4

I attended this party. I got there about 8:15 and left after a giant Gulpner at about 9:15. I came with my partner, I think we were the only ones. I asked 4 or 5 other groups at the bar if they were there for 'the slashdot party', but alas, none were. Happy 10th slashdot.
