Yet they forget their reason for existing is the BROWSER without which they would not be on Google welfare.

Firefox is too tightly tied to Google for my liking. Actually, I ended up switching to Vivaldi. Vivaldi is faster and just generally a better browser.

If you are doing a payment plan for phone yea keeping it locked is understandable. If you pay for the phone's price upfront so you don't have to pay per month for it then it should be unlocked from the start. If you go with pay xx per month til its paid off, once you get it paid off you should be able to go in to any their retail stores and they should be by law required unlock it that day 0 question if/when asked.

Well, if the consumer defaults on the contract, the provider simply blacklists the IMEI. At least that is how it is done in the US.

Submission + - Chinese scientists develop cure for diabetes (indiatimes.com)

AmiMoJo writes: In a significant medical milestone, Chinese scientists have successfully cured a patient's diabetes using a groundbreaking cell therapy. According to a South China Morning Post report, the patient underwent the cell transplant in July 2021. Remarkably, within eleven weeks, he no longer required external insulin. Over the next year, he gradually reduced and ultimately stopped taking oral medication for blood sugar control. "Follow-up examinations showed that the patient’s pancreatic islet function was effectively restored," said Yin, one of the lead researchers. The patient has now been insulin-free for 33 months.

The new therapy involves programming the patient's peripheral blood mononuclear cells, transforming them into "seed cells" to recreate pancreatic islet tissue in an artificial environment. This approach leverages the body's regenerative capabilities, an emerging field known as regenerative medicine.

Yeah, I think things are worsening. It's worrisome that these tornadoes are breaking out in bunches. The news has even stated that these tornadoes are more powerful than the average as well.

Comment Linux is a viable alternative (Score 2) 157

With Microsoft continuing to play target practice with its own two feet, I expect Linux to become an even more viable alternative. LibreOffice is quite usable and games are quite playable using Lutris and Steam. I've been free from Windows for a year and a half now. Everything I do on both my laptop and desktop is now on Arch Linux using the Cinnamon Desktop Environment. There's no need for me to go back. I can even edit photos with GIMP. GIMP will do roughly 90% of what Photoshop will do.
