Submission + - Microsoft retiring many certs in favor of role-based "cloud" certs (ghacks.net)

twocows writes: Microsoft appears to be retiring many of their existing certifications (MCSA, MCSD, and MSCE) in favor of role-based certifications that seem largely focused on cloud applications. For example, there will no longer be Windows Server or SQL Server certification and instead, information about these will be integrated into the primarily cloud-based curriculum of the new role-based certs.

Submission + - Polio re-emerges in the Philippines (apnews.com)

twocows writes: A re-emergence of Polio has been reported in the Philippines with one confirmed infected and the virus detectable in sewage, suggesting more could potentially become infected. Public officials have referred to the situation as an outbreak. The problem appears to be linked to lowered trust in vaccinations due to a faulty vaccine in 2017 (which at the time was linked to several deaths) as well as poor sanitation conditions that allowed the weakened virus present in the Polio vaccine to strengthen and multiply.

Submission + - FOX to host new Cosmos (digitaltrends.com)

twocows writes: FOX is set to make a new season of Carl Sagan's "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage," hosted by Neil Degrasse Tyson and written by none other than Ann Druyam (Carl Sagan's widow). Let's hope they don't screw it up like every other good show they've aired in the past decade.
