Journal tuxette's Journal: WTF??? 14

A few days ago, it was 5 degrees below freezing out. Today, right now, 13:47, it's 7.3 above freezing :-(

Looks like there won't be a white Christmas here :-(

  • Indeed. Yesterday it was -10 C, but now the snow is already melting away.

However, I do like the forecast [www.fmi.fi] for the Christmas Day.

  • We had a cruel tease played on us: 5 cm of snow over Sunday and Monday, down to -10C yesterday, but forecast of 10C and rain tomorrow...
  • And a ton of snow. And although it'll be getting warmer by the end of the week, the outlook is still quite good. Even if Yule won't be merry this year, it'll at least be white. Yay.
  • We had -15 on Monday and tomorrow's forecast is for +10 (5 and 50 for you Fahrenheiters).
    • and this is why I prefer the F to the C -- it is a much finer scale. I like metric by and large but in regards to temperature I am not such a big fan.
      • Yah, but if I remember right -35 is damn cold either way. Just starting to get some of your really cold weather in Minnesota...
        • if I remember right -35 is damn cold either way.

It's actually pretty close to the point where the two scales meet at -40. -35C is -31F [google.com] and -35F is -37.2C [google.com]

We had a pretty extreme temperature swing here over the last few days as well, it was in the single digits Sunday night and today its going to be 52F.
      • I assume by finer you mean more detailed as the degrees are closer together. As if your body can really tell the difference between 49 and 50 degrees. :)
  • ... we're on a roller coaster here to.

One week we have -25 as a high the next week we have 9 degrees, thunderstorms and hail....

Right now at least everything is white outside, but tomorrow they claim +5.... Should be interesting.
  • it snowed several inches here in mid-America and temps will not likely be above freezing until sometime next week. First white Christmas since we lived North.
  • Down here it is going to be 27*C today partly cloudy and bloody humid. Currently it is 84% relative humidity
Tomorrow 34*C with showers in the evening - very humid
For a merry Christmas, 26*C with an Australian Summer Thunderstorm in the afternoon which means it is going to be even more humid.

I have never had a White Christmas, and it never snows here :-(. I have to travel 4 hours to see snow, and only in winter time.
You have no idea what it is like to stuff yourself with a Christmas lunch - ham, turkey
    • You have no idea what it is like to stuff yourself with a Christmas lunch...with temps in the +30's sometimes +40's

      Let's trade places. ;)

It's too bad that snow seems to be turning into a rare commodity even here. It's friggin' December when it's supposed to be -40 C (and F) at best, but today it was raining and the thin layer of snow on the ground is already melting away...
