That's why you can put in a pair of black socks and end up with one black and one white sock. Depending on the sign and magnitude of the laundry-flux between parallel universes you may also end up with more or less laundry than what you started with.

For that reason I only have dark socks. The ways things run here, any stray white sock would be gray. And I have had boxers and even T-shirts come and go like this too, it isn't just socks. Though I suspect the larger the item of clothing, the less likely such trans-dimensional events are.
